Super Junior Postpones Philippines Concert Despite Being In The Country Due To Eunhyuk’s Father’s Passing

Super Junior’s Super Show 9 in Manila gets postponed

After the group’s last concert in the country in 2019, Filipino Super Junior fans, or ELF, were ecstatic to see the K-pop group in concert again for the Super Show 9: Road in Manila on 6th August 2022. However, things turned around quickly on the day of the concert itself.

Super Junior announced at 2.06am that one of their members, Eunhyuk, had lost his father. A few hours later, the event’s postponement was announced. Despite this, the members who were already in Manila still met their fans at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Label SJ publicized the news of Eunhyuk’s father’s passing at 2.06am on 6th August. At noon, it was announced that the concert will be postponed as agreed upon by the members and the promoter, PULP Live World Production Inc.

Despite this, the members expressed their wish to see their fans at the scheduled time and venue of the concert in the same announcement.

Leeteuk, Yesung, Shindong, Donghae, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun expressed in their speeches that they’ve been looking forward to meeting their fans and apologized for not being able to push through with the concert as planned. They also promised to be back for Super Show 9 in Manila with Eunhyuk and Siwon, one of their members who recently caught COVID-19.

After their speeches, the group sang 3 of their songs, “My Wish,” “Callin’”, and “More Days With You”.

While the K-pop group worried about their fans’ reactions to the postponement, ELF had been understanding of the situation. To sympathize with Eunhyuk, they even tied black ribbons around their light sticks.

Super Show 9: Road in Manila to be rescheduled this year

Super Junior’s 6th August concert may have not gone as planned but host Kring Kim, who spoke on behalf of PULP COO Happee Sy, asked ELF to hold on to their tickets for the rescheduled concert in 2022.

Details for the rescheduled concert are yet to be announced, but ELF can expect them to be posted on Twitter via Super Junior‘s and PULP‘s accounts. We hope for Super Junior to return to the Philippines in good health!
