The Philippines’ biggest McDonald’s opens in San Fernando

McDonald’s comes to mind whenever we’re looking for a quick and satisfying lunch or dinner, but it’s more than that – the fast-food restaurant’s also a convenient meeting spot and sometimes even a neighborhood landmark for local communities, such as when its new Laguna branch opened in a former ancestral house.

It’s no wonder that when the Philippines’ biggest McDonald’s branch opened in San Fernando, Pampanga yesterday, residents were already in line to place their orders.

Open 24 hours, with ample seating and touchscreen ordering

Located in the spanking new Capital Town township in San Fernando city, the sprawling 1,000 sqm two-story restaurant has plenty of parking lots and seating.

Visitors looking to stay safe while dining out can use its self-ordering touchscreens with cashless payment, and munch on their meals at open-air dining tables and chairs.

That doesn’t mean you can’t seek help from a staff member if you need it – over a hundred friendly staffers, mostly from San Fernando, have been hired at this outlet to keep the Happy Meals coming and serve customers who prefer counter or table service. Do take note of the physical distancing markers while in the queue for your favorite burger and fry combos.

Snap some photos with the restaurant’s green wall – which of course has the golden arch logo in the shape of leaves – while you wait for your order.

We imagine the nearby McCafe – in a separate but nearby colonial-style building – will be a chill place to hang out over a chocolate frappe or mocha after shopping at the nearby malls in future, such as the nearby SM City San Fernando Downtown.

To keep all visitors and staff safe, all will have to have their temperatures checked, sanitize their hands and shoes at the door, wear a face mask and fill out a health declaration before dining in. Besides the spaced-out seating available in store, there will be a limit on the number of people allowed in at any one time.

Delivery and touchless drive-thru takeout services for your convenience

For those who prefer to stick at home during the pandemic, McDelivery from this outlet is also available through the McDonald’s app – great news if you’re a resident of this expanding township.

Till the end of the year, app orders worth P400 (~USD8.30) and up will come with free delivery – which you can easily hit by ordering any Christmas package meal such as Chicken McDos, Chicken McNuggets, McSpaghetti and more that come in 10 pieces or above. McDonald’s will also donate a book or toy to a child for each Happy Meal app order you place.

We imagine the touchless drive-thru takeout lane will be good to know for families craving some take-out while passing through the area – or even for moviegoers headed to the nearby open-air drive-in cinema at SM Pampanga’s Amphitheater and looking for a bite to eat while glued to the silver screen.

The Philippines’ biggest McDonald’s is now open

With the new Capitol Branch McDo opening, Fernandinos will have a new all-day, all-night food stop whenever they’re looking for a place to refuel in town, or an identifiable landmark where they can catch up with friends.

We’re looking forward to seeing more new conveniences in the neighborhood as the township welcomes new residents and is poised to become the new business district of the north of Metro Manila.
