Little Sisters Of The Elderly In San Juan Is Calling For Food Donations To Feed Lolas In Their Care

Call for food donations

While some of us can work comfortably in our homes, other people are experiencing the current pandemic lockdowns a lot worse. For the volunteer caregivers at Little Sisters of the Elderly in San Juan City, the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) lockdown means a struggle to provide for the abandoned lolas (grandmothers) in their care.

Due to this, the volunteers are seeking for food donations to feed the 100 lolas whom they support, and are particularly in search of fruits and vegetables. For those who cannot go out to buy food to donate, the organization also accepts cash donations.

Besides fruits and vegetables, Little Sisters of the Elderly also needs protein for the lolas. Chicken, fish, and ground pork are preferred as these foods are easier for the elderly to chew. You can also donate frozen foods such as siomai (dumplings), kikiam (Chinese sausage), embutido (meatloaf), and canned goods such as sardines, corned beef, and luncheon meat.

The lolas also need rice and powdered milk, particularly Bear Brand Adult Plus in sachets. For snacks, bread and soft cookies are appreciated.

If you can’t go out to buy groceries to donate due to the lockdown, you can also send cash donations to Little Sisters of the Elderly.

You can send your donations to their BPI Family Savings Bank account number 6111-0455-83 that has account name Little Sisters of the Abandoned Elderly. For any concerns, you can message the organization on Facebook or give them a call at 872-11143.

Little Sisters of the Elderly is in need of food for the ECQ

Little Sisters of the Elderly is a charity organization that runs the Sta. Teresa Journet elderly home in San Juan, Metro Manila. Sister Isabel, the nun in charge, is the contact person for your donations and queries.

Currently, they have 100 lolas in their care and 25 volunteer workers who are in need of food to get through the ECQ.
