Villa Escudero Resort is known for its waterfall restaurant


Usually, most restaurants are built on land and diners are surrounded by walls and windows, if not dining al fresco on solid ground. But Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort in Quezon has a restaurant called Labasin Waterfalls Restaurant that at the bottom of a waterfall.

Here, diners can enjoy the water at their feet while having a kamayan-style meal surrounded by nature.

The Labasin Waterfalls Restaurant is the hotel and resort’s centerpiece as it’s placed at the bottom of a waterfall that lets you enjoy the view while dining. You’ll feel the breeze from the trees and get refreshed by the water at your feet while eating your favorite Filipino food.

Also, since it’s at the base of a waterfall, you’ll be asked to take off your shoes as your feet will be submerged in the water. If you don’t want to go barefoot, the restaurant allows you to wear slippers or any footwear that’s designed to be worn in the water.

To showcase Filipino culture even more, the restaurant is kamayan-style. If you enjoy or want to try eating with just your hands, this is the place for you.

Do bear in mind that the restaurant’s seating arrangements depend on the weather of the day. If staff feel the need, you’ll be asked to move inside for your safety.

The restaurant serves up a plethora of Filipino food from almusal (breakfast) to party trays that can be delivered to you.

We recommend trying the almusal dishes such as tapsilog priced at P245 (~USD4.73) and longsilog priced at P225 (~USD4.34). Party trays, on the other hand, range from P800-P1,350 (~USD15.43-USD26.04).

As hinted in its name, Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort is a sugarcane-turned-coconut plantation that is also a hotel and resort. Besides the Labasin Waterfalls Restaurant as its centerpiece, at Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort, you can also opt for a day tour or take a swim here.

Aside from the restaurant, you may book a day tour to take a look inside one of the largest museums in the country and observe some of the artifacts collected here over the years, such as replicas of the Xi’an Terracotta Warriors from China and the Kulaman Burial Jars from South Cotabato, Mindanao.

Aside from that, the tour includes taking a ride on a four-row seat wagon that is pulled by a carabao.

If you enjoy paddling or riding boats, take a shot at bamboo rafting. If you’re hesitant to try because you don’t know how to swim, rest assured that you’ll be provided with a life vest and there will be a staff member who will help you practice safe and proper rafting.

However, if you’re not one to walk around and just want to relax, there are swimming pools available for you to lounge in and absorb the sun’s warmth.

Other than that, the hotel and resort also run stage performances from Thursday to Sunday if you’re looking for another form of entertainment. Tinikling, a traditional dance that involves bamboo poles, is one of these dances.

Depending on the month, day, and holiday, the day tour package ranges from P1,100-P1,600 per person (~USD21.05-USD30.61). For night stays, rates depend on the unit you choose, but the base rate for two persons is priced from P6,900-P11,600 (~USD132-USD221.91). A fee of P2,800 (~USD53.56) is required per additional person.

Take note that infants who are two years old and below enter free of charge, three- to six-year-olds have a 50% discount, and PWDs and senior citizens have a 20% discount. Also, pets are not allowed at the resort.
