Big Tummy Food House is a new 2D doodle-themed resto in Batangas

If you’ve been considering a holiday in the beautiful beaches and resorts of Batangas, you might want to check out Big Tummy Food House in Malvar, Batangas along the way.

The latest Instagrammable spot in the town, the resto has been transformed into a two-dimensional space that will make you feel as if you’ve stepped inside a doodle artwork.

Designed by Paul Erick Danao, a 17-year-old senior high schooler Batangenyo, the restaurant’s art provides guests with an immersive experience.

Black and white strokes were drawn all over the restaurant – from its floor to ceiling down to its furniture such as chairs and tables – to create a 2D optical illusion.

According to Danao, he started the project on January 29th, and it took him six days to complete. The talented kid decided to lend the restaurant his artistic hands to help his family cope with the financial challenges brought about by COVID-19.

“What truly inspired me to have this outcome are the coloring books of my two nieces,” Paul said in an interview with Philippine Star – no wonder the space resembles artworks kids would love to fill in with crayons.

We’re glad we won’t have to fly abroad to visit this cafe, with a whimsical design that reminds us of Seoul’s Cafe Yeonnam-dong 223-14 and Bangkok’s Eyecandy 2Dcafe that are normally a short flight away.

Menu offers comfort food – from burgers to milk tea
