Chic cafe with boho vibes in George Town, Penang

When it comes to the food scene in Penang, hawker food is often in the limelight. But the modern cafes that have been cropping up in George Town deserve a mention too – from rustic and cosy to posh and classy cafes, Penangites have their equal share of street food and cafe culture.

Stunning decor aside, the cafe’s menu has been attracting patrons. It comprises a wide array of brunch items, including various open-faced toasts and freshly baked croissants.

For starters, Norwegian Brunch (RM36) is a medley of toasted rye bread with savoury smoked salmon, avocado and feta cheese. If you can’t decide between sweet or savoury, go for the Hokkaido Scallop Seafood & Peach (RM33) – a hearty breakfast dish that combines fresh seafood and peach.

Their savoury and sweet stuffed croissants are also worth checking out. The Smoked Salmon Croissant (RM18), Seafood Croissant (RM16) and Strawberry Meringue (RM14) are some crowd favourites here.

Utoo Boho Cafe is also known for their dainty-looking French desserts, with IG-worthy presentations.

Some of their dessert highlights are Chocolate Royale (RM22) – a decadent Valrhona chocolate, feuilletine dessert – and Emerald Ganache (RM25), a heavenly combination of pistachio mousse, piquant raspberry filling, and white chocolate ganache.

Their Mont Blanc (RM24) is another must-try dessert. Instead of traditional chestnut puree, the cafe uses matcha ganache with red-bean filling and hazelnut financier as its base.

For beverages, there are coffee drinks such as Dalgona Pandan (RM16), and non-caffeinated ones that include Fragaria (RM21) – strawberry milk served in an aesthetic glass.
