RUD Karting in Nusajaya, Johor Bahru

For thrill-seekers, burning off steam after a busy week typically involves adventurous activities or hikes up scenic trails. Gokarting is among the list, as it serves up its share of adrenaline fix that lets those with an adventurous bone in their bodies live out their racing dreams – while abiding by the law, of course.

For those living in JB, there’s a new karting spot – RUD Karting. This newly opened gokart centre in Iskandar Puteri has speedy go-kart rides that start at RM55/pax, as well as an in-house cafe serving Asian and Western food for you to fuel up after you’ve made your rounds on the track.

840m racing track with racing karts for riders of different levels

Located just a 5-minute drive from Sunway Big Box – a shopping mall home to the largest BookXcess in the country and an adventure park – RUD Karting is the newest attraction in Nusajaya, with an 840m racing track comprising 16 turns.

You won’t have to fret if your only karting experience derives from racing games, as there’s no need to show a driver’s license to drive a kart here. This new karting spot has 3 types of rental karts – 2 single-driver carts suitable for first-timers and advanced riders, and a kart that sits 2 for those coming in a pair.

Basic Kart (RM55/pax for a 10-minute session) is recommended for first-timers with limited go-karting experience. You can try your hand at zooming around the track that has 16 challenging turns, at an impressive speed of up to 75km/h.

Twins Cart (RM70) is another option for first-timers here, as this 2-seater go-kart with a pair of steering wheels allows budding racers to take on the race tracks with someone else, like their SO, friend or kids by their sides. This go-kart can go up to 60km/h for just-as-thrilling rides.

For karting regulars, there’s Advance Kart (RM75) with a top speed of 90KM/H for thrill-seekers to legally live out a Need For Speed scenario in the flesh.

Those with MyKads can drop by on a weekday between 2PM-6PM to score deals for repeated rides on Basic Kart (RM135/3 sessions), Advance Kart (RM170/3 sessions) and Twins Kart (RM160/3 sessions).

Avid racers can also look forward to a RUD app that’ll make you feel as if you’re in a real-life racing game. Through the app – available soon for iPhone and Android users – riders can view rankings for racers, earn experience points from personal records from racing, and track an online leaderboard. RUD Karting also plans to invite riders to racing events through the app.

In-house cafe and lounges

As all adventurous activities are bound to leave you feeling peckish, you’ll be glad to know that RUD Karting has an in-house cafe, The RUD Cafe & Bistro, where you can refuel your energy

There’s also an in-house tea spot – Gyutea – that serves drinks such as Taro Bobo Black (RM12.90), and Gyula Oolong (RM10.90) with cheese foam.

Snag a spot to dine at its viewing deck or garden area near the race tracks, that has bean bags and seats scattered around. Or opt to hang out at the lounge next to the starting point of the race tracks, with dining tables and high stools to let you eat your meals properly while catching karts whizzing past.
