Pineyard: Rustic Cafe Set In A Forest With Scenic Lakeside Views Where You Can Dine On All-Day Breakfast

Pineyard in Janda Baik, Bentong

It’s not hard to find aesthetically pleasing cafes in the city, with plenty of new ones cropping up to fulfil our cravings for good food and photos. But if you’re looking for a rustic cafe hidden in a forest and surrounded by scenic pine trees, Pineyard will be right up your alley.

This cafe is located in Janda Baik, Bentong in Pahang – around a 45-minute drive from KL. Housed in an open-air wooden building set in a forest, the cafe overlooks a scenic pond and trees for a much-needed break from the city in nature.

Hang out among nature in an aesthetic cafe in the forest

Mention the state of Pahang and most of us will associate colder temperatures and nature with it. To make the most of this, Pineyard boasts an open-concept space, with an entirely wall-less dining area that lets patrons take in cool breezes and look out into a forest and pond while they’re dining here.

Since they opened their doors about a year ago, in September 2020, they’ve become a favourite among many for their Muji-inspired interiors – from wooden roofs and pillars to furniture, as well as modern touches of minimalist light fixtures and “see-through” arches.

There are different seating options at this spacious cafe, including ones at outdoor alfresco picnic-style tables, bar seats that overlook the pond and communal tables that seat up to six.

Plenty of photo opportunities for the ‘Gram

As taking photos for the ’gram has become part and parcel of our cafe-hopping excursions, Pineyard offers up nature-filled spots on its grounds to do so.

While the cafe’s interiors and lake already dish out one photo op after another, the row of slender trees next to the ample car park is a spot that’ll remind K-dramas fans of Nami Island in Korea, one of the filming locations of the popular TV series Winter Sonata.

Aesthetic interiors aside, Pineyard has an extensive menu made up of Western mains, salads, and brunch specials.

To help narrow down your choices, go for their signature Lemongrass Pasta (RM26), an Asian and Western fusion plate of fragrant spaghetti noodles tossed with bunga kantan and pea sprout.

There are other unique Asian Western fusion noodle dishes too, such as Miso Pasta (RM26), Curry Pasta (RM26) and Salted Egg Pasta (RM29). Or fuel up on mains such as Salmon Steak (RM39) and Chicken Chop (RM26).

But if you manage to arrive early for breakfast or brunch, they have all-day breakfast plates. If you’ve worked up an appetite during your drive here, go with their Big Breakfast (RM33) for breakfast staples such as scrambled eggs, turkey ham, chicken sausage, or Eggs Benedict (RM23) with poached eggs and cured salmon.

Lighter bites you can order are Avocado Toast (RM23) – cubed avocado on toast served with roasted potatoes and yam – and Pineyard Toast Set (RM19), for a local offering of soft-boiled eggs, toasts with kaya and butter, and coffee.

Pair these up with Latte (RM12) or Matcha Latte (RM14). But leave room for desserts, as they serve scoops of ice cream (from RM10) in interesting flavours of gula melaka and nangka with cheesecake, and cakes (from RM13/slice) with choices of cheesecakes and chiffon cakes.
