Novae Future Tavern in Petaling Jaya, Selangor
Petaling Jaya is packed with cafes and atas restaurants to satiate PJ-ites’ love for food. Throw in Instagrammable decors and themed interiors into the mix and we seriously can’t get enough of these spots.
Cue Novae Future Tavern, a new restaurant and bar in PJ that just opened their doors in July 2020. This IG-worthy spot has decor that looks straight out of a futuristic movie that you can admire while dining on atas plates of Asian fusion dishes.
Futuristic tunnels & dining tables in cosy nooks
You’ll enter the restaurant through the circular revolving door on the right instead of the rectangular one on the left that looks like a regular door

Hiding out in Sunway Damansara, Novae Future Tavern is located just a stone’s throw from a well-known coffee spot, Bean Brothers. Those who frequent this area will know that this commercial hub in PJ already boasts a host of cafes and restaurants tucked between industrial buildings and warehouses. So this new restaurant and bar is just another reason to convince you to head over to check out the spot.

Walk into the restaurant and you’ll see cosy cylindrical nooks outfitted with dining tables and booth seats. The bright white lighting mixed with neon lights and warm orange lights also add to the sci-fi feel of the space. There’s even a tunnel with neon purple lights and reflective surfaces separating the dining area from the bar – where you can get drinks such as Carlsberg Draught Beer (from RM11) and Connor’s Stout (from RM13) during Happy Hours (5PM-8PM).

But it’s not all neon lights and industrial surfaces at this restaurant and bar. You’ll find pops of pale pink among monochrome shades and retro-themed furnishings at its dining area for a more soothing dining experience.

Asian and Western fusion plates

Its impressive decor aside, the restaurant-bar serves Small Bites for starters, with options of Truffle Fries (RM18), as well as their signature Tavern Prawn Roll (RM18) that bundles up fresh prawns, carrots, lettuce, and chives in rice-paper wrapping, to choose from.
Or go for their heartier plates of Baked Rendang Macaroni (RM30), a unique combination of rendang with pasta and cheddar cheese, or Tuna Cake Salad (RM25), a Thai-style salad with mango and papaya topped with a sweet and spicy dressing.

Other interesting options here include their Seabass Asam Pedas Risotto (RM32), which switches up this classic Italian rice dish by cooking it in a flavourful, spicy-and-sour asam pedas broth.
If you’re swinging by for lunch from 12PM-3PM on a weekday, you’ll have dibs on their Set Lunch (from RM25), which comprises a main course, appetiser, and a drink.
