Free admission for KL Tower and Menara Alor Setar for July 2020

Skies have remained pretty clear in Malaysia, even as we are now 20 days into the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO). It’s not just the literal skies above our heads, with photos of iconic sights from miles away during the MCO to prove it, but also the fight against COVID-19. We’ve been recording 2-digit new cases for over a week now, and with an impressive 96.5% recovery rate to boot.

To celebrate this series of small wins, both Menara KL Tower in Kuala Lumpur and Menara Alor Setar in Kedah are offering free admission to their observation decks for customers from 1st July 2020 to 31st July 2020. It’s part of their “We Are Free: Masuk Percuma” campaign during July to boost local tourism. And it’s a chance to score more breathtaking photos of KL and Kedah from a high vantage point.

From KL Tower’s observation deck, you can see the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, the tallest twin towers in the world. It’s pretty impressive to see the two towers while we weave in and out of the city looking for spicy food and hip hidden alleyways, but the view from KL Tower is sure to take your breath away as you get to see our beloved “Menara Jagung” set against a backdrop of an urban jungle with distant rolling hills.

KL Tower’s observation deck is set 276 metres (around 84 storeys) above ground level. And you won’t have to shell out the usual ticket prices of RM30 for yourself or RM20 for your kid, as Malaysians and non-Malaysians of all ages can now get free admission in July 2020.

Note: there are no pre-bookings for this, so you’ll have to show up on the spot to get a slot.

You’ll get 30 minutes to snap photos from the observation deck. There’re also free-to-use binoculars located around the fully air-conditioned deck, which you can use to spot landmarks – such as Dataran Merdeka and Istana Negara – in KL and throughout Klang Valley.

Those in Kedah will also get free admission to Menara Alor Setar in the month of July. As the building will be open until 10PM during the RMCO, there are chances aplenty for you to score stunning views of sunsets over lush paddy fields that the state is known for.

If you haven’t gotten enough of Mount Jerai and Mount Keriang photos of them with clear skies overhead being spotted by Penangnites during the MCO have already been taking the internet by storm – you’ll get to see the whole stretch of the mountains from 88 metres (about 27 storeys) above sea level too.

There’ll also be 5 pairs of binoculars at its observation deck for you to see close-up views of the town below.

Regular sanitation and SOPs carried out at towers

Sanitation will be carried out regularly, at 45-minute intervals, at both Menara KL Tower and Menara Alor Setar to ensure that visitors can stay safe.

There will only be 9 people allowed at the decks at a time for social distancing purposes – this means fewer chances of people photobombing you too.

Batches
Badges will be given to visitors to let them know which batch they’ll be placed in because of the 9-person limit
