First FamilyMart outlet in Penang

Japan’s FamilyMart took the Klang Valley by storm when it first opened in Wisma Lim Foo Yong in Bukit Bintang. With dozens of subsequent outlets popping up like mushrooms shortly after, FamilyMart has been the go-to convenience store for snacks, desserts, coffee, and Japanese products.

Now, Penang langs can finally hop onto the FamilyMart bandwagon because the convenience store franchise has opened its first-ever outlet on the island in Automall, Karpal Singh Drive today. To celebrate its launch, FamilyMart is having a 25% discount on selected food and beverages for a limited time if you like their Facebook page, so here are 4 of those noms to get before it’s too late.

1. Sofuto Ice Cream (30th July – 2nd August)

A visit to FamilyMart is never complete without getting their sofuto ice cream. Their signature, everyday flavour is the matcha sofuto normally priced at RM3.90. Now you can get it for RM2.90 before 2nd August 2020. 

Seasonal flavours such as strawberry, Belgian dark chocolate, and Hokkaido melon grace the menu regularly, so there’s something for you to look forward to even after this offer ends.

2. Brown Sugar Bubble Milk (3rd – 9th August)

Boba tea lovers will want to check out FamilyMart’s Brown Sugar Bubble Milk. Made with fresh milk and boba imported from Taiwan, this drink is normally priced at RM6.90, but going for around RM5.10 during the week of 3rd August 2020.

Pro tip: These babies regularly sell out during lunch hour in KL’s FamilyMarts, so you might want to head over to the Penang FamilyMart a little earlier to get your hands on a cup before the lunch crowd forms.

3. Frappe (10th – 16th August)

If boba isn’t your cup of tea, you can wait for the Frappes to go on discount starting from 10th August 2020 onwards. Choose from the Coffee Cookies, Milk Cookies, and Chocolate Cookies Frappe – each is going at around RM6.60 after a 25% discount from its usual price of RM8.90.

4. Large Coffee (17th – 23rd August)

Coffee lovers can now upsize your regular cup of joe and get 25% off the beverage. FamilyMart has Americano, latte, cappuccino, and mocha on their coffee menu, and the coffee is freshly brewed from 100% Arabica coffee beans. Prices start from around RM4.40 after discount.
