19,819 New Covid-19 Cases Recorded In M’sia On 4th August, Breaking Previous Record By Over 2,000 Cases

19,819 new Covid-19 cases in Malaysia on 4th August


Covid-19 cases have yet to see a decrease in Malaysia, with the latest daily counts hovering in the 5-digit figure for almost three weeks now, since 13th July 2021. Today marks yet another worrisome record high daily cases recorded in the country, with 19,819 new Covid-19 cases reported on 4th August by KKM.


Over 10,000 cases in KL and Selangor


Of the 19,819 new cases recorded today, 4th August, Selangor once again reported the highest number of cases in a state nationwide, with 8,377 new cases. Following after is Kuala Lumpur, with a total of 2,467 cases.

Johor (1,162), Kedah (1,371) and Kelantan (1,003) also had cases breaching the 1,000 mark. Sabah (949), Negeri Sembilan (800) and Penang (867) saw an increase in daily counts, with cases nearing 1,000.

Meanwhile, Labuan (5), Perlis (11) and Putrajaya (46) are the only areas in the country where new cases are falling below the 100 mark.

Today’s daily cases mark yet another record high since the start of the pandemic – as we get nearer yet to the 20,000 mark. This sees an increase from the previous record of 17,786 cases recorded on 31st July, less than a week ago, and yesterday’s daily count of 17,105.

The addition of 19,819 new cases today puts the country’s total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases at 1,183,110.

On the other side of the Covid-19 fight in Malaysia, as of 3rd August, 22.8%, or 14,711,542 million individuals who registered to get vaccinated have received their first vaccine dose. Another 7,440,835, or 22.8%, are now fully vaccinated with two vaccine doses received.

In total, 22,152,367 individuals are in the midst of completing, or have already completed their vaccination.

Yesterday (3 Aug) saw an addition of 483,368 individuals who got vaccinated, almost equally split between those who received their first and second dose.

19,819 new Covid-19 cases on 4th August marks a new record high 


Malaysians have their eyes glued to their phones for updates daily Covid-19 cases, due to the recent spike in cases in the past weeks. With things yet to take a turn for the better in the country, we are reminded to keep our outdoor excursions to a minimum and diligently practise Covid-19 safety measures to help contain the spread of the virus.
