Yeri & Hong-seok take on lead roles in Blue Birthday
On 7th April, PLAYLIST confirmed that Red Velvet’s Yeri and PENTAGON’s Hong-seok, alongside other actors, will be joining the cast for their upcoming web drama Blue Birthday and released more information about the plot.
Last week, Red Velvet’s Yeri and PENTAGON’s Hong-seok received offers to play the lead roles in PLAYLIST’s upcoming web drama, Blue Birthday. Fans will be glad to know that they have accepted the offers.
The plot of Blue Birthday is finally revealed

Yeri will be taking on the role of Oh Ha-rin and Hong-seok will be playing Ji Seo-jun, who is Ha-rin’s first love.

Blue Birthday is a fantasy romance about a tragic love story. Oh Ha-rin lost her first love, Ji Seo-jun, to suicide on her birthday. She had planned to confess to him that day, only to find out that he died.
10 years later, Ha-rin discovers mysterious photos left behind by Seo-jun. She finds herself travelling back to the past through these photos, and she attempts to find out the truth behind Seo-jun’s suicide.
Playlist confirms supporting cast
The supporting cast has also been confirmed. Lee Sang-joon will be taking on the role of Cha Eun-sang, a news reporter who has a crush on Ha-rin, and Kim Kyul-yoo will play Do Soo-jin, Ha-rin’s best friend. Park Joo-hyun will play Kim Ui-young, Do Soo-jin’s boyfriend.
Updates on Blue Birthday’s progress
Previously, Blue Birthday was only in the preparation stage, but now the crew has set the ball rolling with their first script reading on 5th April. However, the airing date has yet to be confirmed.
