Soyang Hanok Tirol Cafe

Hanok are traditional Korean houses that were first designed and built in the 14th century, during the Joseon Dynasty.

Soyang Hanok Tirol Cafe is a cafe housed in a hanok in North Jeolla Province – here, you can spend your afternoon appreciating the majestic architecture whilst sipping on a good cup of coffee.

The main highlight of the cafe is the outdoor pool, where you can paddle around in a small wooden boat. It’s a popular photo spot, and we’re sure at least one person has tried to live out their historical K-drama dreams here.

We recommend sitting outdoors to take in the unique architecture of the hanok and get a good view of the pool’s clear emerald waters.

Rustic & authentic interior

Unlike the modern-style hanok cafes that have mushroomed in recent years, the interior of Soyang Hanok Tirol Cafe is still faithful to the original look of a traditional Korean house, with its latticework windows and doors kept intact.

For an authentic traditional Korean experience, sit on the floor or on some cushions.

If sitting on the floor is not for you, take a seat at the main area of the cafe, where there are proper chairs and tables.

Upon walking into the area, you’ll be greeted by two huge soft toys, which is also a popular photo spot among visitors.
