New sci-fi drama Sea of Silence
Back in April this year, Netflix announced that they’d be producing an 8-episode sci-fi series called Sea of Silence.
Based on a short film of the same name, Sea of Silence is set in a dystopian future where the Earth is suffering from a lack of food and water. It follows a special task force as they attempt to recover peculiar samples from a deserted research lab on the moon.

This will be Bae’s second Netflix production after the widely acclaimed Kingdom. Known globally for her box office hits Cloud Atlas and Jupiter Ascending, she’s more recently starred in Korean movies The Tunnel and The Drug King. She will be taking on the role of Dr. Song Ji-an, an astrobiologist who wants to reveal the secrets of the abandoned lab on the moon.
She will be joined by Goblin and Train to Busan actor, Gong Yoo, in his first Netflix project. He stars as Han Yoon-jae, the leader of the taskforce and a soldier who comes into conflict with Dr. Song over the mission.

Former boy band MBLAQ member and Ninja Assassin actor Lee Joon will round up the main cast in his first drama role since 2017. He plays Ryu Tae-seok, a former elite soldier from the Ministry of Defence who hides mysterious secrets under a caring and friendly demeanour.

Veteran Korean movie actor Jung Woo-sung will be joining Sea of Silence not as an actor, but as an executive producer instead. This is his second production work after the movie Don’t Forget Me, which he also starred in.
