Japanese cat waits for owner

With more people working and attending classes remotely from home these days, internet woes aren’t the only problem pet owners have to face. If you have a cat, chances are you’ve had them hijack your Zoom chats. Recently, a cat in Japan gained attention not for wreaking havoc, but for its patience as it waits by the door for its owner to finish his online classes.

An adorable photo shared by user @ROkUHANA00 has become a trending topic on Twitter in Japan, raking in over 150,000 likes and 36,000 retweets to date. According to the tweet, the user’s son came home from university due to the pandemic and has been attending remote classes at home.

The family cat, affectionately named “Nunnun”, was initially overjoyed at the prospect of being able to spend time with the son. However, its dreams were short-lived – Nunnun has been locked out of the room during the owner’s online classes. The overly-attached cat thus had no choice but to sit by the door and wait for the classes to end.

More adorable shenanigans of Nunnun

After Nunnun’s adorable acts trended on Twitter, the user followed up with more photos of the beloved cat. As it turns out, patience is not the cat’s only virtue. Nunnun has a stellar concentration to boot – this intense staring contest with the heater is proof enough.

Sometimes, however, the feline is not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. Not realising that the heater was unplugged and switched off, Nunnun continued to keep its gaze fixed on the appliance.

Netizens’ endeared comments

After the post gained traction on Twitter, there was an influx of positive comments left by netizens who found Nunnun’s behaviour cute and impressive.

Of course, there’s a fair share of witty comments. User @i_D_fy zoomed in on Nunnun’s feet and quipped from the point of view of the trampled slipper, saying that it “doesn’t understand why this is happening”.

User @JVzFamb38c0BatQ shared an interesting anecdote. Their daughter’s cat once snuck into her room, crashed the online class, and exposed its furry butt to the entire class. Thankfully, the daughter’s teacher is a cat lover, so all’s well that ends well.
