Subway is my preferred choice whenever I’m in the mood for fast food or something fuss free and quick. Compared to other fast food chains, Subway is indeed a healthier choice.
Not only is subway known for their sandwiches, they’re famous for their delectable cookies too. At 3 for $3, these cookies are definitely worth the calories. As for their sandwiches, there is a variety of ingredients for you to choose from, there’s bound to be something for everyone!
Overall, Subway is a great alternative for anyone looking for something healthy yet satisfying to assuage your taste buds.
Even though we would easily categorise Subway as another fast-food outlet, the sandwiches offered here I feel, allows diner to have a more satisfying meal. On days I'm busy and have errands to run, I always find myself going to Subway, grab a sandwich and go!
One of my go to subs have to be the Subway Melt paired with the hearty-italian sandwich. Ham, turkey ham, bacon and cheese, I always add on a scoop of egg mayo to up the ante and level of sheer indulgence. Perfectly textured and aromatic thanks to the holy trinity of meat cuts, there's nothing better to energise when you're on the run!
Another sub that I am madly in love with is their breakfast flat-breads. Sausage, scrambled eggs, bacon and cheese, I would gladly wake up from my 5-hour robot slumber just to get it. It's that good! Even though the hashbrowns are a tad bit salty, the hearty and affordable fare you can get from the sandwich, which is the star anyway, is worth every gram of sodium.
The best part is that whether you're a student looking for a cheap meal or something that is more decadent, there are various deals made for each demographic. I remember the the days in secondary school, when the cold cut trio would be my staple when I head there. Oh, memories.
I used to eat Subway every Tuesday back when I was still studying on campus, and my favourite combinations were the Subway Melt, Cold Cut Trio, or the Roasted Chicken Breast. I like how you have pretty much full control over everything that goes into your sandwich, and you can specifically pick what vegetables you'd like. It's a great fast food option if you want something quick, affordable, and somewhat healthier than McDonald's or KFC.
Subway is my go-to when I need to grab myself a quick lunch. Every time I see Subway TV commercials, I feel slightly cheated when I actually order it but that's just advertising for you. I like the concept of Subway. It's kind of like a mini version of IKEA where everyone makes their orders in a organised fashion.
Subway is definitely a healthier alternative compared to other fast food joints like KFC and McDonald's, especially if you choose to throw in more vegetables to complement your sandwich. The sandwiches are decently priced but I feel that sandwiches like the Subway Melts get a little pricey especially if you order it with a meal.
My personal favourite is the Egg Mayo and Tuna sandwich with Hearty Italian bread, partially because it's one of the cheaper options. Smother some sweet onion and BBQ sauce and I'd call that a solid meal.
Subway is one of my preferred restaurants to eat at when I have no idea what else I want to eat, or if I have a craving for something 'fresh'. I guess all that advertising about "Subway, Eat Fresh" really pays off.
But it does create this mental image for good reason. Your sandwich at Subway can be filled with veggies; my personal combination being Lettuce, Tomato, Cucumber, and Pickles - it's always good to have greens in your diet and Subways helps you to make this tasty as well. They also have a wide variety of sandwich options, all of which are rather healthy (nothing fried, certainly) and they even helpfully point out the 'healthier' sandwiches for you to choose.
The real standout at Subway is the customisability of your meal. You get to choose from 5 different types of bread, depending on your preference (mine being Wheat, plain and simple), 7 different vegetables, and countless more sauces. So essentially how healthy your meal is really depends on how healthy you want it to be (i.e. by loading up on three sauces, I inevitably make my meal quite the unhealthy one).
Subway also offers some pretty nice soups which are quite affordable when bought together with their meal. I'm particularly a fan of their Tomato Bisque, which is a soup that you may be hard pressed to find nowadays - it's available for a very affordable $2.40 with the purchase of a sandwich.
Of course, I shouldn't neglect to mention their cookies, which were to me when I first tried it; "out of this world". They really are that tasty. For the chocolate connoisseur , their Double Chocolate Chip Cookie is an obvious choice, while for the nut lover, their White Chip Macadamia Cookies are also tasty and filled with real Macadamia nuts. There's a reason why these two cookies are my favorites.
So if you're looking for something quick, fast, and affordable (under $10 even when you get all the frills), Subway's the place to go.
Subway Eat Fresh! No doubly you would have heard this slogan before, whether it is an advertisement on the bus, or on the television, almost everyone knows what Subway is.
In case you are the 0.00001% who do not know what Subway is, it is a sandwich fast food restaurant that claims to have healthier food than other fast food. You can choose your selection of vegetables and sauces from the wide range they have. Even the type of bread is your choice. With that much freedom, you can practically customised your own sandwich. Right down to whether you want American cheese or cheddar.
Even though some say that Subway might not be as healthily as advertised, it is still delicious. My personal favourite is the Italian BMT, which stands for Bigger, Meatier, Tastier. Topped with sweet onion sauce and a variety of vegetables, this makes for a mouth-watering meal. To end it on a sweet note, the cookies are soft and chewy and are highly recommended.
Subway does have such good sandwiches, just remember to eat it Fresh!
I love Subway, I could eat Subway every minute of every day. I want Subway right now. Its healthy, cheap and tastes amazing. What more could you ask for?
I love that you can watch your sandwich being made and its not like other places where you have to end up eating soggy sandwiches that have been sitting in a fridge for like 5 hours. And its super customizable too, I'm pretty sure you could go to Subway every single day and not have to eat the same sandwich twice.
The only downside I can think of is that it gets pretty crowded pretty fast probably cos everybody knows how amazing it is. Oh and the cookies taste really good and that's bad cos they're bad for you. Haha!
Subway is always the place I go to for a healthy, non greasy and light meal. I personally do not enjoy strong tastes in my food, and subway serves just that. The $5 meals are rather affordable and value for money, though i do find the other choices of subs a little too pricey, especially the ones in the premium range.
Besides sandwiches, Subway is also known for their chewy cookies, with the more popular flavor being double chocolate chip and white chocolate macadamia cookies. Do take note though, that if your reason for eating subway is to opt for a healthier option, you should probably not buy their cookies, as they are simply irresistible!
Furthermore, I find the nutritional content for different types of subs provided on Subway's website extremely useful, especially for those who are trying to lose weight or counting their calories. I am able to track the my calorie intake in a matter of seconds, and this often helps me in deciding which sub to get.
For first timers, the ordering process can be a little daunting, as it would require you to be sure of what you want in your sub (ingredients, sauce, etc). Hence, if you are ordering for the first time, do be very clear of what sub you want-- what type of bread, ingredients, sauce, whether to make it a meal or not.
I think what particularly makes Subway stand out is the availability of choices theirs customers are given. From the kind of bread to the type of cheese, you're allowed to pick whatever you want which bestows customers more control over what they're purchasing. Sure, the array of choices is daunting and can turn away first-time customers who are pressured by the long queue behind them. But it's a plus once you get used to it.
Subway provides you a satisfying meal while still conserving your ability to dash towards your office. If you need to get lunch but are late for an appointment, just stop by Subway! But if you have the time to sit, get the set meal along with the soup. Their soup is pretty good for a fast food restaurant.
Subway is my go to place for comfort food. The conventional big M does not do it for me, considering the many controversies and what not shrouding it.
Not Subway. While it is not really a “healthier choice” per say, it is, among the fast food chains in Singapore. Like many others, I thought subs were healthy due to the amount of greens that goes into each sandwich. This notion is not entirely invalid, since it looks pretty substantial as compared to other fast food meals.
However, the truth is that the layers of ham and other processed meat basically off sets the nutritional value of the vegetables. How did I know? I downloaded a diet watch app which essentially calculates my calories haha.
Even so, I would still turn to subway for an occasional indulgence. It taste soooo good. The warm toasted bread with fresh greens and enough ham to satisfy that salt craving…
