-18C has been around for quite awhile now and personally, I think it's a very underrated yogurt brand. My all-time favourite would be the Taiyaki with Frozen Yogurt Filling, a must-eat for me whenever I'm at 112 Katong or Star Vista. I've never seen anything like frozen yogurt in a Japanese fish-shaped pancake before and it's actually really yummy! I had 2 the first time I tried it. (Heh!)
Besides the Taiyaki, they also have yogurt cakes which I really like too. My only qualm is that they melt really fast. But if you're looking for something different from the usual cakes or just dislike excessive whipped cream in general, you might want to consider getting yogurt cakes instead. :)
Yogurt cakes like ice cream!
This yogurt store makes me bewildered as I stepped in. I was caught on attention with the array of beautiful cakes and decorations on display. There was a section in the center where it displays the various toppings available for your yogurt. They are sold separately in mini containers and so is more hygienic and way fresher than any other yogurt stalls which display their toppings out openly from day to night. But how much can one mini container fill? Not a lot. I need to get at least 3 toppings to satisfy my yogurt combination and one topping is not that cheap after all.
I would come back for the yogurt cakes though as they looked especially appetizing! You can Pre-order, choose your size and customize the cakes you want. But be warned, it can amount to over a 100 dollars. I bought the display one and it already cost me 48 bucks for a normal cake size with a shallow depth. Well, if you have the money, why not? Because the cake is surprisingly good with smooth, delectable yogurt all over. It melts in your mouth almost instantly!
Tayaki with yoghurt filling
I got myself a Tayaki with frozen yoghurt filling with I found interesting because it basically a fish shaped pancake with frozen yoghurt in it!
It was served fresh out of the freezer and the spongy consistency of the pancake compliment the creaminess of the yoghurt so well! I was pretty impressed.
The general ambience of the seating area wasn't too bad either. A rather small crowd that was involved in their own little conversations.
The service was rather good too, they were polite and friendly and responded to any help that I asked for.
Brrrr...really minus 18 degrees!
Berrylite, Frolick, Yoguru are just a number of yogurt shops that have sprung up in Singapore in the recent years. With demand for this healthier alternative to the ever fattening ice cream increasing, yogurt shops are on the rise.
I was kinda doing some window shopping around Katong 112 when my girl and I saw this cute little yogurt shop with bright coloured tables and chairs. Was actually craving for desserts after dinner so we gave it a go.
We ordered the normal flavoured yogurt and went with two toppings. Couldn't quite remember what toppings I ordered but I was actually quite disappointed when the staff told me that the gummy bears had ran out. Having eaten frolick , berrylite and yoguru before, I thought minus 18C's yogurt would roughly taste the same. However, I was wrong. The yogurt was super chilly! It was really cold and it left a temporary tingling sensation in my gums. The yogurt wasn't too sour and the texture was smooth.
Considering the fact that the price was affordable and that it served chilly and 100% natural yogurt, I think minus 18C would be my favourite yogurt shop now. Brrr.... can't continue. Too cold...
