Salt grill by Luke Mangan brings Modern Australian cuisine to Singapore. Regardless of location, Luke aims for a setting that is stylish, relaxed, welcoming and showcases the best of Australian produce. The opulent and iconic ION building is the perfect platform to share Luke’s talent with Singapore.

Great view, great food

The journey starts when you approach their counter at ION level 4. A warm welcome at the reception. We were greeted by our name and taken to our table when we emerged from the elevator. The panoramic view is sensational! These first few incredible minutes set the mood for the evening and this will be a wonderful and memorable evening.

The food was exceptional! Flavours are subtle, distinctive and luscious. My friends complained that the portion was too small. But I find it perfect for me and I manage to squeeze in dessert. Dishes that left me swooning were the sashimi, salted squid, the famous crab omelet and pork belly.

The view and ambience are great! The tables are not too close together which means you can have a private conversation. A great place to go for special occasion.

High up in the sky

One could be slightly confused by the entrance — it is situated at level 4 of ION. Once there, you would be directed by the staff to take the exclusive elevator (through an art gallery) up to the 55th level, where yet another couple of staff members await to greet your presence with delight.

The notion of elevated dining always excites me. At Salt Grill, you’d be slightly overwhelmed by the excellent view of Singapore that only an aerial dining experience can afford to render. All the staff, as expected, was professional and extremely informative about their offerings.

My entrée of foie gras was satisfying, to say the least. Almost instantly, it melted in the mouth, and left an aromatic aftertaste lingering on my tongue. The strip loin was exceptionally well done, even on its own without the addition of sauces — it was tender and perfectly cooked to medium as per my order. The extra side order of the fragrant truffle fries only served to conclude our meal on a positive note. It was a pity that I did not get to try their desserts. Overall, it was a pleasant meal, made better with the lovely ambiance.

Take the chance to splurge at Salt Grill. You won’t regret it.
