Satisfying Eggs Benedict

I will never forget the eggs Benedict in Canopy. They tasted as great as they looked. I especially love their generous portion of hollandaise sauce which made the whole dish so much more flavorful than those in other places. Their salmon was really fresh and goes perfectly well with the eggs.

My friend had their big breakfast which consists of the usual hash browns, scrambled eggs, sausages, mushrooms and tomatoes. They looked really plain but luckily, tasted great. What’s worth mentioning was their scrambled eggs – cooked to perfection with a buttery fragrance.

It rained on the day we went there and sadly the area was too small to adequately shield us from the harsh weather. Otherwise, it would have been a perfect brunch.

Great dining experience

I love going to Canopy because it's so different from the other retaurants. It's right smack in the middle of Bishan Park, so people can enjoy strolls before and after their meals. Also, people can bring their dogs to the place, which makes it a haven for dog lovers.

Canopy's food is considered pretty decent. I noticed that most people ordered the Egg Benedict, which seems really mouthwatering. I really like the Banana Chocolate Waffles, which had a generous scoop of vanilla ice-cream and almond slices. Their desserts are good, so make sure you try them out.

Canopy has both an indoor and alfresco dining area, so customers are free to choose which one they prefer. I like sitting outdoors because it's much more spacious, and I can interact with the dogs that their owners bring with them. It's a great cafe to spend an afternoon on.

Dine in a park

This is a brunch place as you can see and the food is really good coupled with a decent price! The soup of the day, which I suspected is pumpkin soup, is relatively thick and not as sweet as I thought it might be perfect for breakfast.

As for the main course, I ordered the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Though I was pretty tempted to try out the poached ones, I decided to leave it to 'Hatched' the next time I visit Holland V. While the scrambled eggs are rather smooth and cooked to the right degree, the smoked salmon is really fresh as seen from the colour of the flesh. However, I thought that the taste of salmon was rather raw instead of smoked but either way the combined taste with the eggs is YUMMY.

Will be back for 2nd visit again!

Too Hot To Eat Outdoors

Who doesn't like a place where you can dine with your pets?

The range of breakfast meals and drinks is nice. And the price is as expected for a western restaurant such as this. The atmosphere is inviting and welcoming of a place to hang out with friends after a nice walk.

But even the beautiful ambiance and the cute pets cannot make up for the poor service and missing flavours to our meal.

The bill took too long to come; we ended up going to the counter to pay instead of wasting time sweating in the noon heat. Our toast did not come with butter. Our eggs did not come with salt or pepper, which is funny because those are the basics when it comes to toasts and eggs.

Perhaps the waitresses were as uncomfortable working under the sunlight as we were waiting for our bill.

That was the only downer. The food was done well, despite the missing salt pepper and butter. The drinks are comparable; my latte was not too sweet and not too hot. The portion per serving was enough to not have too heavy a breakfast.

Just remember to go indoors after 12pm, if you're lucky enough to get a seat; they have limited indoor seating. The sun in Singapore isn't exactly friendly for outdoor dining.
