The ambience is good, the location is just right. The food is not too bad as well.
However, the waiting time for the food is not ideal. Also, when I went to eat with three other friends, the waitress actually served my friend the wrong dish! Thank goodness my friend had not started eating yet, so the waitress came back and took the dish to the right person at another table. By then the dish had already turned cold but oh well.
Other than that mishap, I think FISH is a nice restaurant to dine at.
Tasteless cod fish
Initially I wanted to go to Kiseki for buffet but somehow the restaurant was fully occupied even though I started queuing at 11 something. My friend and I then settled for F.I.S.H. instead. Since it was appetiser day, we ordered an appetiser to share. I forgot what it's called but it has mashed potatoes stuffed in squid rings. It was sadly, the best dish of the meal.
Having learnt from my mistake in Fish & Co, I avoided the cod dishes and ordered cheese crusted baked pollock. It was not bad. But the creamy sauce that goes with it was present in all the dishes that we ordered including the appetiser. Lack of creativity, perhaps? My friend insisted on having cod and was disappointed by the tasteless fish. I really wonder why Fish & Co and F.I.S.H. just keep serving tasteless codfish. I know the fish itself is close to tasteless but even the sauce given is not enough to finish the fish.
thank god for F.I.S.H
I love this place. I binge on food when i'm sad, and it's very unhealthy. Being a girl, and especially a health-concious one. I soon realised something must change because when i'm bloated & heavier by 1 or 2 kilos i end up regretting big time. I usually patronize buffets to satisfy my urge until i met F.I.S.H. Binging on salad instead of oily junk not only uplifts my mood but also has lots of nutritional goodness. Thank god for F.I.S.H.
My best friend is extremely weigh-concious. To the point where she feels guilty eating 2 sushis a day, it's that exaggerating. Soon enough, I found it a challenge to think of restaurants to eat because there practically anything that fits her criteria. No carbs, no fattening meat, no deep fried. F.I.S.H. caters to all that, she usually orders the pan-fried cod fish or anything steamed if it is available. Fish is rich in omega 3 fatty acids, a healthy fat and she knows that. She would usually toss all her baby potatoes into my plate & i'd be more than happy to save her of the calories since the potatoes were so deliciously soft. The wide variety of salad is her secret (yet healthy) indulgence. Thank god for F.I.S.H. i don't have to rack my brains to think of a healthy restaurant.
Before I start to sound like a F.I.S.H ambassador, I must highlight that the staff is very inattentive even though they have nothing much to do. The portions for the seafood is quite small and like other restaurants, the price remains high.
The seafood quality isn't as fresh as Chinese banquets, but I must say the way they cook & marinate it boosts its uniqueness, gives them an upper edge over its competitors. I usually eat the breadcrumb dory fish and i love the corn chips in the salad buffet! Double thumbs up for F.I.S.H! :)
I love Fish & Co., I really do. So when I heard abut F.I.S.H., I was really excited to see what they had in store. But the overall experience was really bad; not only was the food sub-standard, they seemed to have forgotten all about my order. 2 of the tables that were seated after me were served their food earlier than me, and I had only ordered a pasta. After getting my food (finally!) I thought that I'd be in for a treat. How wrong I was! The taste was off and I didn't feel satisfied at all. The only thing that was ok was the Kola Tonic that I'd ordered, and that's saying a lot.
They have a salad bar which offers quite a fair selection, but I wasn't very impressed by the presentation of the food. Not recommended for people looking for Fish & Co. quality, but if you want free flow salad, then this is the place for you!
Not too bad
F.I.S.H was actually not too bad, especially since they have a Wednesday deal where starters go for only S$3.95++. My friend and I had the salmon bruschetta and stuffed squid; the former was okay, not much on top and no tomatoes. It's hard to get any decent bruschetta nowadays. The latter was orgasmic! The stuffing in the squid was potatoes and the sauce was delightfully creamy.
It's a good place to try if you haven't been there already because it's quiet and well-situated in town. I wouldn't exactly recommend the pastas though. The parchment pasta was boring and unexciting to the palate. I'd be better off making my own pasta at home.
I dined at the Tampines 1 branch with my friend on one occasion and what I thought was interesting was the salad bar where you could have free flow salads of your choice. There were many to choose from, from the traditional Caesar salad, to the more interesting Thai salad. However, despite the choices, you would not really be keen on eating most of it. The tastes are not really up to standards and they do not look very appetizing.
The main courses were slightly better, but for the expensive prices, I do not think I would return to dine here again.
Free Flow of Salad !
F.I.S.H a subsidiary of Fish and Co. offers a Halal dining restaurant for the Muslims. Personally I felt that F.I.S.H's dining concept is much attractive than Fish and Co. because they have a salad bar for your to pick your favourite salads to accompany your main dish.
If you think that salad bar are all about vegetables and nothing else? Then you are wrong, they provide pasta salad, tomato salad, salad with smoked salmon, potato salad and many other yummy salad! It's something like a salad buffet. Sometimes eating salad can be as interesting as this.
If you are a health conscious person, I think F.I.S.H is a place that you will like!
Better Than Fish & Co.
I find FISH by Fish & Co. serving better food than the usual Fish & Co. outlets. I especially enjoy the salad bar, which has a wide variety of salads – from leafy greens, to cold pasta salad. You can create a salad to your liking from the selection available, and there is no limit to the number of servings you can get.
For mains, I really enjoy the seafood pasta that is cooked in the special baking paper. It is really tasty as the paper retains a lot of the flavour of the pasta. It is a generous serving, and the seafood is fresh. The pasta is also well cooked, and not soggy.
Good quality, quantity and service!
I headed down to F.I.S.H today with my friends to celebrate another friend's birthday. I took a look at the menu, and there was not much to choose from. However, there were two lamb dishes (I adore lamb), one of which was the commonly seen grilled lamb chop, and the other was lamb casserole. Being sick of lamb chops, I decided to order the lamb casserole for myself ($15.90).
The fragrance of the lamb casserole overwhelmed me as it was served. It was served with some type of sauce, which was really delicious, and there were onions, garlics, potatoes, celery and three pieces of lamb. It's actually quite worth it, considering the quality and quantity. It wasn't served magnificently, but I guessed that's what casserole looked like. If you have a small appetite, it would be great to share it with someone else because I, even with a big appetite, felt extremely full after the meal.
Ambience is great, although the aircon vents on the ceiling (black ones) have white spots on it (not sure if dust or mispaint). Anyway, it's worth the try if you're going for something classy or a date. Bon appetit!
Reasonable pricing for good food.
F.I.S.H is one of my favourite places to dine at when I’m having a strong craving for salad.
F.I.S.H is the Halal version of Fish and Co., and I think they are doing a great job in serving their food. I went to the outlet at Sommerset 313 with my boy to celebrate my birthday about a year back. I love their concept of providing a free plate for the salad buffet when you order a main course. I think the pricing of the dishes on the menu is rather reasonable. I recall paying about $60 for both of us, with two main courses, a drink as well as two salad plates.
I personally love salad, and they actually have a large variety of salads at their salad bar. However, for some salads such as the smoked salmon one, people actually pick out the salmon strips and leave the greens in the bowl. I think the management should do something about it, like monitor and top up the portions when necessary. Other than that, I really do enjoy their salads.
F.I.S.H is a place where you can get affordable foods at a reasonable price.
