True Blue

Hands down the most popular after-hours joint on Bali Lane, which runs parallel to Haji Lane, Blujaz serves unpretentious food and drink in an unpretentious atmosphere.

BJ (I really ought not to abbreviate Blujaz to its initials) is great for dinner and drinks after work on weekdays or chilling with friends on the weekends. Very crowded though, you have to be patient and wait for a table, or go early and chope a place.

I love the quirky, artsy décor featuring chandeliers made of recycled CDs indoors and a shabby-chic jumble of old furniture outdoors. Very cool without trying to be, Blujaz defines and adds to the laid back, indie charm of the Haji Lane area which is kind of like Singapore’s answer to London’s Hoxton Square (a very inadequate version, I know, but it’s the best we can do for now).

Affordable Dinner & Drinks; Great for Chilling

Blujaz café is a great place to chill with friends, especially after a hard day at the office. It has jazz jam sessions where diners can join in too. The jazz music is really great, and the performers are really entertaining.

The food at Blujaz is affordable, and has a mixture of local and western food. I personally like the sweet and sour fish with rice. The fish is cooked well, and the sauce is not too sweet, and a little spicy. It’s a great dish and is really affordable as well, costing less than $10. The vegetarian pasta is also great, and it has a generous serving of a variety of vegetables.

Alcoholic beverages at Blujaz are also really affordable. The bottles of house wine cost about $40. Unfortunately, I really did not like the house white wine. I did enjoy their jugs of house pour spirits, which was also very affordable, costing about $32 a jug.

I would definitely recommend this place for dinner and drinks with friends.

Wonderful place to chill!

I came here for a Christmas Eve countdown with a large group of friends and despite the limited space on the air-conditioned second floor, they very kindly catered to all our needs and requests. They sell beer and also shots like Waterfall and Flaming Lambhorgini. It was a great experience, the bartenders were jovial and friendly while helping us light the drink, even excited for us. Past midnight, they made space for a dance floor and it was absolute fun! They played all the popular dance music and didn't mind us dancing like fools on the makeshift dance floor.

BluJaz Cafe is like a mix between a pub and a club - it's a place to chill, drink, and even dance without having to squeeze with throngs of people!
