Ice Cream and Waffles - Zichar Style
Most well known for their house speciality of charcoal waffle with salted egg yolk sauce, Twenty Grammes brings a local twist to the standard fare of waffles and ice cream - zichar style. After seeing a photo of jet black charcoal waffles drizzled with a creamy yellow salted egg sauce gaining likes on instagram, I just had to try it for myself.
The quirky flavours of Thai Red Tea and charcoal waffles were a cool addition to the usual flavours, but their actual taste and texture were actually pretty unimpressive. Having eaten from the waffle maestro Creamier several times, Twenty Grammes’ waffles tasted nowhere near as light yet rich as Creamier’s. The highlight of the salted egg yolk sauce is a novelty, but not something I would drop all things to come back to.
Overall, Twenty Grammes is a nice novelty to try out once - just for that one instagram pic. Do avoid lunch hours on weekends if you don’t want to wait more than half an hour for dessert though.
