Pastry Pantry Under Your Block

It started out as a humble shop with barely enough space for more than ten walk-in customers, and eventually expanded to the space beside it. This leap of faith took place after a year of lacklustre sales when most people would have given up the cafe business. Now, they’re living their baker dreams of managing a pretty cafe with spacious seating and a view of customers enjoying their food, and even the occasional instagram flatlay-style photoshoot.

We all love a good cosy cafe with quaint furnishings and the scent of freshly baked pies wafting through the air. This revamped homely cafe gives off a chill and laidback vibe with its handmade pies and croques arranged casually in glass jars, friendly owners manning the front and the chef making her rounds to serve the food herself. Occasional whiffs of Norwegian smoked salmon pasta will make your mouth water - it happens a lot when i’m eating dessert and the people beside me order plates of specialty pasta that make me forget the lunch already sitting in my stomach.

They make a pretty good combination of red velvet and the meringue atop a regular lemon meringue tart, rich and sweet with a light meringue topping, as well as my favourite - the rich dark chocolate tart that really lives up to its promise. If you’re a fan of heavy and slightly on the side of deep bitter chocolate, the dark chocolate tart is a must try!
