Unlimited Churros on a Monday afternoon
Tucked away among the row of food stalls along 15 Cheong Chin Nam Road, Ohana Café was recently launched in late 2015. Visit the café on a Monday to take part in their weekly “Monday Mayhem” buffet. At only $12 per person nett, you can divulge in a variety of food that are normally rather pricey elsewhere. At the sound of “buffet”, the greedy kid in us emerged as we ordered almost everything from the menu, from truffle fries to Aglio Olio spaghetti, to caramel latte and churros.
At first I was apprehensive about the quality of the truffle fries as free flow seemed too good to be true! However, the rich yet not overpowering flavour of the truffle fries rendered us speechless - literally - as we were too busy stuffing ourselves with more of the truffley goodness. The hot caramel latte is a must-try for all caramel lovers like me, but keep track of your caffeine intake and don’t get carried away by the amazing and addictive taste!
We were most excited for the unlimited supply of churros. It came with different sauces to dip in – caramel, chocolate and even cotton candy. Disappointingly, it was not the best churros I have tasted, but for a $12 buffet, I’m definitely not complaining! The service was outstanding, and the waiters were very responsive, and they allowed us to blast our music through their stereo as it was not peak hour. And to seal the deal, there is even free wi-fi.
