Great New Place
Roosevelt's is relatively new to the cafe/diner scene but has been gaining in popularity, and for good reason! The ambience is amazing, with huge glass windows that bring in natural light to the space, high ceilings and warm lighting to really get you into a mood to chillax.
They also have a very extensive menu that serves cafe favourites such as poached eggs benedict for breakfast food lovers but it also serves more substantial mains such as chicken and bbq baby backed ribs. Since I'm not much of a breakfast food person, I opted for the ribs which was an affordable $28 for a full rack. The ribs were smokey and sweet with lots of flavour from the molasses marinade. It was good but I tend to prefer my ribs with a bit more kick as the sweetness can get a little overwhelming after a while.
We also tried the poached eggs with smoked salmon and their jalapeno bacon mac and cheese. These were more of a disappointment as the holladaise didn't have oomph and the mac and cheese was too oily and not creamy enough.
hearty american food at best
I actually really liked their food. Roosevelt serves up pure, hearty, comfort American food indulging in it would definitely lift up moods. Think milkshakes, southern fried chicken with their signature triple mash, mac and cheese, snapper pie and the likes. Thinking about my meal there just got me drooling.
Their milkshakes are hella thick so I recommend sharing, in case it gets too cloying. Oh and remember just don't think about calories or your diet when you dine there. The food is so sinfully good. One of my favorites were their southern fried chicken which was unlike the usual fried chicken you can find in typical fast food restaurants. Theirs is crisp on the outside yet soft and tender on the inside. I was in chicken-heaven (if there is such a thing). Also I couldn't stop digging in to their Triple Mash on the side. It is a creation by them whereby the mash is a mixture of sweet potato, normal potato and pumpkin, lending a different character to the usual mash potatoes.
Also, get their baked apple crumble with ice cream. Though their ice cream was nothing to scream about, the warm baked cinnamony apple filling embedded with crispy baked crumble would definitely leave you digging for more.

Ambience at Roosevelt's Diner & Bar is best described as modern with elements of industrial chic. Star highlights include th 'Engine Table', a glass panel table supported by a race car engine, a vintage orange vespa, and expressive photo canvasas adorning the walls. Furniture is functional, but not all are comfortable. Lighting is a mix of natural sunlight and in-house lights on the high ceiling, with several lightbulbs doubling as decor. Roosevelt's Diner & Bar also offers magazines for browsing.
Service at Roosevelt's Diner & Bar makes an effort to impress. Being new, I'm surprised that service here is efficient, and staff are friendly and quite knowledgable on the menu. Food is prepared relatively quickly as well.
Roosevelt's Diner & Bar serves artisinal all day breakfast / brunch, along with gourmet coffee. At night, they bring out the extensive wine / beer menu, and serve restaurant quality fare. I love the food here so far, haven't had any bad experiences yet! It also helps that prices are affordable, comparable to other cafes.
The Mocha was rather good, nice well rounded flavour and relatively strong body. The Hot Chocolate was rich but not thick, and I liked the touch of mini marshmallows, some of which I lost while dunking...
Smooth, creamy eggs in the Eggs Royale With Scrambled Eggs (SGD $17), a special request we ordered. The English muffin pairs well with the smoked ham and scrambled eggs.
The signature Eggs Roosevelt (SGD $17) features a bed of turmeric spiced smashed potatoes and spicy chorizo sausage, topped with 2 softly poached eggs. The yolk when cut just runs down and coats the potatoes and sausages, making it visually messy but so good to eat. The turmeric spice on the potatoes is just right without being too overpowering.
