On my previous trip to The Handburger, I ordered the 'Stuffed Portobello burger'. The huge and juicy mushroom was stuffed with spinach, walnuts, parmesan cheese and beancurd. It was a party of flavours in my mouth! Even though this choice was vegetarian, I enjoyed it heartily and didn't feel that I missed out one bit.
Their buns are made by them, with many different flavours. They also take orders for their buns for customers to bring home to prepare their own fillings. I think that is indeed a nice touch.
My family ordered the pulled pork and the dory burger. Both looked amazing. Especially the dory one. Imagine a battered fish fillet balancing on your burger bun, topped with a spicy and creamy tartare sauce! There were even lotus root crisps which are pretty hard to find around in restaurants. The lotus roots crisps add a healthy crunch to the whole burger, giving a textural contrast. Lastly, the pulled pork sandwich was also a delight too! It didn't have a smell which some places where they don't do it well have. The pork was also tender and flavorful, as commented by my father.
I can't wait to go back to try out the rest of the menu!
tasty hamburgers, but nothing much else to offer.
The burgers here are good, tasty actually. Well, that is to be expected. I found myself actually enjoying the burgers immensely. Do try their Stuffed Portabello Burger, it's something really unique and I highly recommend it.
However, I can't say the same for their sides. Their mushroom soup is surprisingly tasteless, there is no hint of any mushroom flavoring at all. I find it too watery. At the same time, i think they're trying to pull a fast one on us with their Buffalo Wings. those aren't buffalo wings at all. Not by a long shot. I do not recommend those to anyone.
hamburgers for tea
I have tried The Handburger on two accounts, in which the latter left me really satisfied. On the first, I tried the Original a-la-carte. It was really good, better than your standard ones at Mac's (obviously). The beef patty was fat and juicy, and the buns were really fluffy. The price was not too bad, the standard of a burger served in a restaurant. Not a rich kid though, so I didn't really think of a return visit.
The second time though, my friend and I were looking for afternoon tea places and chanced upon the poster outside the restaurant. And woah, $6.80 for 2 mini burgers and a drink? A little unusual to have burgers for tea, but okay! We tried the Original, Pulled Pork, and Battered Dory. Out of the three, the Original still did it for me. The pulled pork was also not bad, tasting sweet and succulent though parts of it can be a little dry. The dory wasn't too good though - give it a skip. It's like a substandard fish&chips fillet wedged between two buns. I had English Breakfast for my drink while my friend had the mocha.
I'm definitely coming back here for tea next time. It's really value for money and you have to try burgers for tea at least once in your lifetime.
A burger fit for kings!
What stood out about this outlet was it's pretty normal yet eyecatching shop name. Nested in a corner of 313@Somerset, this is a shop which can boast that it DOES NOT USE MSG, preservatives or artificial flavouring and yet can boast such terrific taste and flavour in their burger. It serves a wide range of burgers which include poultry, beef, lamb, pork, seafood and vegetarian.
What really caught my attention upon stepping into the restaurant is thoughtfully designed this restaurant is. Everything down to its warm lights and design of the counter and appropriate use of colours make for a really cosy setting, and entices u want to stay there for an extended peroid of time. I really liked the taste of the freshly baked buns used for the burger and not only are the burgers fantastic as it was for my stuffed portebello burger, the trays the burger are served in makes for a very thoughful presentation of the burgers.
They also have a rewards programme called the Handburger fanatics, which you can apply for free bty just spending $5 at the restaurant. Be sure to get your hands on this handsome looking card which gives you points on your purchase which you can redeem during your next visit.
Gotta go there for an early dinner if you do not want to queue up. Restaurant is usually filled with people at around 7pm.
Awesome burgers, similar to the ranks of Fat Boy's
While walking around with my girlfriend, we chanced upon this weekday promotion for 2 set meals. I didn't really try the HandBurger before and I thought it would be just like any regular burger joint.
At around 3pm, the restaurant was pretty empty and perhaps that's the reason why they have the promotion around that time.
I order the HandBurger Original and the lady had Chicken Caesar. The set meal comes with a drink of your choice and a side + a dessert for us to share. The patties were delicious due to the juiciness of the tender meat. The sides we chose was Chunky Fries as it wouldn't go wrong. I personally don't like chunky fries because sometimes, they are soggy. Surprisingly, their Chunky Fries were crispy and taste awesome with their in-house BBQ sauce.
Last but not least, our dessert, Chocolate Walnut Brownie served with a scoop of Vanilla ice cream., to sum up our meal.
We paid about $22 inclusive of GST and Service Charge.
I really love going to The Handburger because I know they'll serve up quality food. Their burgers are made with really fresh ingredients and feature a wide range of enticing flavours such as duck confit, blue cheese beef and battered dory. They even provide options for vegetarians which I think is really thoughtful. All their burgers also come with a choice of Chunky Fries, House Salad or Mushroom Soup.
I tried the pulled pork burger before and the meat was so juicy and tender. I also like their range of handmade sauces such as sweet onion jam, as well as their self-baked burger buns that are so aromatic and come in flavours such as honey wholewheat and spinach & parmesan.
I tried their vegan burger once too and for those naysayers who claim that healthy food cannot taste good, try this!
Burger lovers' heaven
All burgers come with a choice of chunky fries, house salad or mushroom soup. I must say the presentation of the burger was really great! The beef burgers here are a must try because I personally find the meat really tender and juicy and the portion generous as well. As for the sides I was particularly impressed with the onion rings and the mushroom soup which was creamy and thick to my liking! In fact we liked the onion rings so much that we ordered an additional portion!
Service at The Handburger was decent but the food took quite a while to come, I attribute this to the fact that each burger is freshly prepared upon ordering and we were there on a public holiday. I feel that the price is slightly expensive for a burger but it’s really filling and I’m pretty sure most burger lovers wouldn’t mind.
Delectable, different, darn good burgers!
This restaurant caught my attention during one of my many shopping trips when I took the escalator up from Somerset MRT. It definitely does not disappoint!
DELECTABLE, DIFFERENT, DARN GOOD BURGERS – The range of burgers available sets it apart from other burger-oriented restaurants. There are things for poultry, beef and vegan lovers, so fear not! Everyone can come here to enjoy a great-tasting burger regardless of your preferences. I’ve tried and fell in love with the Chicken Caesar and Chicken Cajun Cordon Bleu, liked the Duck Confit and am okay with the Stuffed Portobello Burger (not a big mushroom fan). The fries, a side which you can choose from a range, are AWESOME. Especially when dipped in the sauces which they provide you with. I love stealing fries from my friends who unfortunately have small appetites and cannot finish theirs ;)
HUGE SERVINGS – Just the right thing to fuel and pump you up for a long day of shopping! The burger is gigantic enough, plus the side of your choice, so you’d definitely be bursting at the seams after your meal.
AWESOME MILKSHAKES – I love their milkshakes! Tried Nutella with Marshmallow, Peanut Butter with Banana, as well as Oreo with Marshmellow. Although they border on being too sweet, if you chase your burgers or fries down with these sinful indulgences, it takes some of the sweetness away and becomes awesome!
PRICES ARE A LITTLE TOO STEEP – I love me a big juicy beef burger anytime, but the prices do put me off a little. Hence the safer and cheaper poultry choices I’ve made as you’ve seen above. If the prices are lower I would definitely visit more often to try their beef burgers!
SOGGY BREAD – Well not both halves of the bun. Mostly the lower bun, after a while. The sauce and juice of the meat on top of the lower bun get soaked up in the bread, making it soggy and not so delectable anymore.
I am in love with their burgers and fries and milkshakes. That’s almost everything! Oh yeah, not the prices though. Not a fan of the prices! However I can forgo (almost) the dent every visit makes to my slim wallet as the burgers are kind of the best I’ve ever eaten. Burgers from fast food chains just DO NOT compare AT ALL.
The Handbuger, bigger than the size of your palm
I had eaten The Handburger for almost three times already. Every time, I'd always order their burger called 'The Works'. The size of the burger is about the size of your palm. Yes, that is how big it is! Yummy right?
More about the burger. It consists of a 150g beef patty, onion rings, fried bacon, sweet onion jam, barbeque sauce, spinach and also with a caramelized bun to pack all the ingredients together into a burger. This combination will leave you feel like coming back for more. By eating the budget, you can't taste the spinach and sweet onion, but something sweet and fragrant! That's how good their burger is! Why not give it a try!
I like the way the food is placed and also the design of their plate as well. Like a canteen plate, it is several round dented circles in the plate, which is where they place the burgers, sides and utensils too! The downside of my review would be that the restaurant seems a bit squeezed at times, depending on where you are seated at. I remembered clearly there was a time, when I was dining with my friends of 5; we were seated at the middle of the restaurant. However, we had to constantly move our body sideways for the staffs to serve the other customers seated at the sides.
In all, I would say that The Handburger has a lot of special burgers that you’d love to try!
To be honest, the font of the name of the shop was what attracted me to this establishment at first sight. If I remember correctly, the Handburger is still relatively new to the burger scene in Singapore (maybe 3 year old?) The novelty factor was the main reason to urge me to try it when it first opened.
The Handburger Original features grass-fed beef, jam, lettuce and bbq sauce. Burger was flavourful and quite juicy. I preferred my burger plain without sauces, so the addition of the sauces and jam were not well received by me. The set I had included chunky fries, which were okay as I’m more of a shoestring fries person. The cutest part of the meal was the serving trays they used, therefore making the presentation of their dishes very appealing.
The Works burger was overwhelming and impossible to hold with two hands. I got try the crispy bacon and onion rings, both of which were above average. My partner commented that the burger was “good enough”, considering the portion.
After the novelty factor had worn down for a bit, the Handburger didn’t come to mind when I craved for burgers. Personally, I would go for it only if I were in the vicinity of their outlets.
