Inspired by the spirit and energy of Auckland's rendy Ponsonby Road cafes and restaurants, the New Zealand Natural Cafe serves up hearty sandwiches, gourmet wraps, salads, soups and famous ice creams made into sundaes.

As someone who hasn’t been to New Zealand, I can’t say if it does taste like New Zealand. But it tasted pretty good. Which is a compliment enough from me, seeing that I think most ice cream places are ripping your money off since it doesn’t taste much better than the much cheaper store bought version.
The service is commendable, especially since we kept bugging the poor waitress for extra spoons and bowls.
However, the seats are rather squashed together, resulting in me accidentally knocking chairs over on more than one occasion. Really quite an embarrassment. But besides that, no complaints.
Made me reel full of zeal to attain another New Zealand ice cream!
I remembered the first time my tongue kissed upon the surface area of a cookies and cream flavoured ice-cream that has blue and green papers wrapped around it's cone. There was no brain freeze. There was only me, sitting at the corner of Parkway Parade, gushing as I please. It was an ice- cream like no other.
Magnums are usually place on sticks, rich with chocolate and vanillas. Sometimes even caramels. Cornettos do come in cones and their taste is nowhere near nightmarish either! However, forget Magnums and Cornettos when there is a New Zealand ice-cream within your grasp.
The vanilla was rich with flavour, it wasn't like a heap of frozen snow but it did taste like it was made right emack in the middle of a New Zealand mountain, beside Legolas and Frodo. The chocolate chip was chunky. It blended with the vanilla layers to perfection. Such concoction is certainly a rare situation! There are other flavours too, but I relished the taste of cookies and cream ice-cream religiously.
The only complain I have involving New Zealand Cafe would be, why are the cafes so puny?? The tables and chairs seemed to be catered for dwarfs. The scale of the cafe itself is rather minuscule. Why?
I scream for ice cream. :)
New Zealand Natural Café has one of the best ice creams in Singapore. It is as creamy and delicious as that of the more expensive ice creams like Haagen Dazs or Ben & Jerry’s. This is the place where each member of the family agrees to go for an in-between meal treat. But some branches I have visited quite lack ample space. It's not that it really mattered, but it could have accommodated more should it happen to be larger.
My daughter and I love all their ice creams. We are always eager to try another flavor whenever possible. Sometimes we buy variations and share it so we can make side comments.
Although commonly known for its ice cream, New Zealand Natural Café also serves delicious and healthy sandwiches and soups. They also have set meals that will surely satisfy ones cravings. The combination is just great. Personally, I find the food more tempting because deep within, I’m excited for my dessert.
The staff are friendly and accommodating too. Plus, they serve well and fast. This really is a must try. ☺
I love the ice cream sold here, and have no idea why they aren't being touted as well as Ben & Jerry's or Marble Slab Creamery. A wide variety of choices to choose from, and one can really taste the fresh fruits in each scoop (: some branches also tend to give more in one scoop, which is really value for money.
I'm not usually one for fruit flavoured ice cream- I usually stick to old fashioned vanilla(as you can compare branches on the old favourite)- however, New Zealand Natural is worth a visit, especially on a hot day. Staff are friendly and always greet with a smile (: Best of all, there are Take Home Packs so you can enjoy the lovely flavours from home.
I still remember the crunchy taste of macadamia nuts in their Macadamia Supreme and the refreshing taste of Berryfruit Sorbet. Definitely worth a visit.
One of the better ice cream chains.
New Zealand Natural ice cream is on par with the likes of Marble Slab, though it's not getting quite the same attention. What I like about their ice cream is that they're of the thick, creamy variety and yet taste of fresh fruits, at least for the fruit-themed flavours. This is especially so for their strawberry ice cream, which is unlike the strawberry ice cream served by other ice cream chains and definitely unlike that in tubs sold at supermarkets. Even though I love strawberries, I kinda gave up on strawberry ice cream because I thought it's going to be more or less the same wherever I go. But when I first tried New Zealand Natural's strawberry ice cream, I was pleasantly surprised and delighted. Every spoonful was bursting with the natural flavour of sweet, ripe strawberries, was deliciously, decadently creamy but uncloyingly so, for it left a punctuating aftertaste of light, floral sweetness. It was one of the best strawberry ice creams I've had in a while.
I also highly recommend their Hokey Pokey which is some honey-themed ice cream. The ice cream itself is heavenly enough, sweet and floral like the strawberry ice cream, though of course in a different way, but what made it even better were the tiny biscuits, which also tasted of honey, embedded in it, so that every mouthful is entertaining for the palate, oscillating between the smoothness, thickness, and richness of cream and the crunch of biscuit.
I can't help but feel that their marketing strategy is to promote healthy ice cream. Not sure if it's a good strategy because people who love ice cream are not very health conscious generally. For people like me, what matters is the taste of the ice cream. Since the calories are going to be consumed either way, might as well make use of it on good ice cream.
Nevertheless, I find the ice cream quite good and smooth. I love their flavours too. They have many unique ones like boysenberry dream, creme de coconut and even durian flavour. I love their chocolate ecstasy and white chocolate raspberry. Give it a try! It's a great alternative to Haagan Dazs and Baskin Robins!
Satisfying food and flavourful ice-cream!
If you are looking for food and ice-cream that will not let you down, then I strongly encourage you to pay New Zealand Natural Cafe a visit, where the food is pretty good, and the ice-cream is just heavenly.
One thing, other than ice-cream, that I like to eat at New Zealand Natural Cafe is the turkey bacon carbonara spaghetti! It's really tasteful, and the chef here is really generous with the cream sauce and turkey bacon.
NZN Cafe has a good range of ice-cream flavours, from classic vanilla to boysenberry. My personal favourite is Hokey Pokey, a flavour that consists of butterscotch and honeycomb. My initial thought was that it was going to be really sweet with the combination, but in the end, the sweetness level was just nice. The butterscotch balls gave a kick with every mouth! Good stuff.
Whether it is for ice-cream, or a meal, or both, you must give New Zealand Natural Cafe a shot. Even if you disagree with the food, I am sure you would at least find the ice-cream good. After all, that's what they are more or less known for!
