Tranquil Setting- Great For Chilling!
Bacon and Booze may be set in a quiet and tranquil far end of Punggol, but their business is far from quiet. Decorated with a cowboy theme, it is a pet-friendly restaurant. Its location, although right at the far end of Punggol, makes this place the perfect stopover to satisfy one's hunger for those looking for a evening jog by Punggol park.
Bacon and Booze serves lots of finger snacks. I thought I'd get to try their signature bacon but their bacons were only served in their finger food and not in their main dishes. I'm not sure about their day menu, but their dinner menu consisted of pretty common dishes, with Chicken Cutlet and the like. Their Shephards Pie struck out most amidst the rest of the dishes. Be sure to share the Pie though, because of its large portion and thick potato. Sandwiched between the pie is minced meat and cheese. I thought their salad could do with more dressing because it felt like I was eating raw leaves.
Catch them on their Happy Hour (Tues-Sun, 3pm-8pm) and be rewarded generously- buy 1 pint get 0.5 pint of draft beers free, with 1 pint of Hoegarden costing $13.50. If you're lucky, you can catch some live music after 9pm!
Limited Menu But Tasty Dishes Nonetheless
Situated far off the beaten track, Bacon & Booze is a casual little cafe with a western cowboy theme, located next to Punggol Jetty and the Punggol Ranch Horse Riding School. As one of the few eating places in this area, Bacon & Booze is suitably open from morning till night. They also offer to host corporate events, as well as plan for parties.
Ambience at Bacon & Booze reflects the horse-riding theme of the wild west. Ropes are used as decor, western style lamps adorn the place, furniture is comfortable, rustic and wooden looking, the bar counter is high with western looking bar stools. The entire building the Bacon & Booze is located in looks like a barn, and has a nice outdoor setting where you can see horses pass by every now and then.
Service at Bacon & Booze is rather laid back and casual. Staff are friendly, but as food is only prepared upon order, you'll have to wait between 10 - 15 minutes for your order. As the acutal dining area is rather small, conversations do carry over to other tables. Bacon & Booze also offers several promotions, the most notable is a Diver's Night every Wednesday, where divers can receive 10% discount upon producing their C-Card.
As its name suggests, Bacon & Booze specialises in (nearly) all-day breakfast items featuring bacon, and various types of beer and wine. In fact, their all-day breakfast menu occupies almost 50% of their entire menu, and is served till 6pm daily. After 6pm, the menu is extermely limited, with only 3 options for main dishes and finger food. As such, I would only recommend visiting Bacon & Booze before 6pm if you plan on having a meal. A visit here at night would probably be limited to finger food and drinks, which is still decent as well.
The B & B Delight, which stands for Bacon And Booze Delight, is a breakfast platter of fluffy scrambled eggs, sliced mushrooms sauteed with onions, streaky bacon, baked beans, thick cut chips and herbed sausages. I love that the baked beans and mushrooms weren't just afterthoughts, but properly cooked, tasty, and well intergrated with the overall dish. The sausages were meaty and juicy, and I love the slight freshness of taste from the herbs. Excellent overall dish, though if I had to pick the weakest point on the plate, it would be the rather plain chips.
