Homely, Western Comfort Food Done Well
Located within the rather secluded Changi Business Park, in the UE Bizhub East Mall, (which is next to Changi City Point mall), Lemon & Herbs Rotisserie is quietly serving up generous portions of homely western comfort food at affordable prices.
Ambience at Lemon & Herbs Rotisserie is simple and minimal, with quirky lights, white walls, and small, rustic countryside decor. A huge attractive wall photo spans the outside of Lemon & Herbs Rotisserie. But the open kitchen concept is under-utilised, as not much food is displayed in the glass counters. Also, I felt that it would be better if they had pictures of the types of dishes they were offering, as they only have written descriptions currently.
Service at Lemon & Herbs Rotisserie is friendly. Orders are taken at the counter, and staff are able to provide recommendations. Food is prepared only upon order, so be prepared to wait between 5 - 10 minutes. The female boss (who is currently expecting), is rather friendly as well.
Lemon & Herbs Rotisserie has an emphasis on serving freshly prepared rustic American / British comfort food made daily with good quality ingredients. Their use of sauces and gravy is light, allowing the natural taste of the ingredients to shine. Lemon & Herbs Rotisserie sources fresh ingredients for their food daily, and makes most of their dishes in-house. Prices are affordable, with a meal (1 main + 2 sides) costing between SGD $10 - $18.
The Quarter Roasted Chicken is tender, juicy, and well cooked. I like the tangy taste of the black pepper rub and rich gravy. The Potato Salad is dotted with raisins which provide a fresh burst of flavour, and I like that the sauce is light. The Coleslaw has a light sauce as well, which allows the freshness of the vegetables to stand out.
The Beer Battered Fish has a light, crispy crust which envelopes a firm flesh fish. Only downside, the batter is rather oily, and could have been drained a little longer. The Mashed Potato is smooth, and while the brown meat gravy does add a bit of flavour, it's a little too thin in consistency. The Buttered Corn is lightly buttered, and very fresh.
The Latte was highly recommended, and while it's quite strong, it's not the best I've had. I'll probably say it's above average in flavour. However, the Home Made Ice Lemon Tea is quite potent and sweet, and while I like the thickness of it, I felt they could have used less sugar.
Overall, Lemon & Herbs Rotisserie is a great place for lunch or dinner, especially if you're near this area. Having only recently opened for business, Lemon & Herbs Rotisserie is still rather unknown at this moment, but with the quality and affordability of their food, that may soon change.
