Good food, beautiful place
The name is really quaint and fairytale-esque, which was the main draw for me when I decided to visit this place with a friend. It's located in the east, pretty near my place, so that settled it for me.
The all-day breakfast concept isn't a particularly original one, but it's one that works. I tried the eggs benedict with salmon they served up, and while I found the salmon a little bland and dry, the eggs benedict was good.
The interior of the cafe is pretty cute too, with warm lighting and adorable little details - it seems painstakingly and lovingly designed in order to cater to the public. The service staff were also really warm and kind - again, fairytale.
The prices are okay, not too pricey, but not exactly cheap, either.
Not too bad!
Tried Eggs and Berries at Westgate when they were having a 1 for 1 promotion. We went there on a weekday afternoon and there were hardly anymore dining in the cafe. I had the eggs benedict with rosti and also ordered a side of truffle fries to share.
The eggs benedict were well done. Though not the best, but definitely one of the better ones around. The rosti however, was a very interesting pair with the eggs benedict. Of course, it can't be compared to Marche's but it was generally pretty good! Though it was a little charred, I actually liked it because the charred parts give it the crunch.
The truffle fries weren't that good as the truffle taste wasn't that strong. It tasted more like normal fries to me.
Overall, it was a pleasant meal and even more pleasant with the 1 for 1 promotion.
Great Portions Great Food!
This is one of the great choices for a Sunday brunch with your partner or best friend! I had the poached eggs with salmon, and the portion was very generous.
Soft and pink, the salmon was a treat! The poached eggs are done very well, oozy in the middle and the yolk flowed nicely, covering my plate in a bright, sticky yellow. The iced latte was done in a nice proportion of espresso and milk, but could do with less ice, so it wouldn't get too diluted.
Other than that, I guessed it's because we were there during an off-peak hour, the service was good! The waitress was very friendly and patient with us. She even recommended us what were their specials. It's definitely a place I would recommend you to visit, at least once!
Eggs& Berries wowed me with its colorful layout structure and dim lighting which created a warm and intimate ambience for dining. When I first stepped into the restaurant, immediately my attention went to the little details, such as the modern and stylish looking striped chair that complemented the layout of the restaurant. Even before the food was served, I was already pretty impressed with the ambience. I loved the retro feeling the restaurant gave me. It felt cozy.
I guess they pride themselves on their eggs, which doesn’t come as a surprise anyway, since they ARE named Eggs& Berries. Their eggs were soft and very yolky, so if you love your eggs, you’ll probably love this place too! They were also very generous with the salad portion, and they do serve their homemade ice lemon tea together with your main course, if you ordered the lunch set meal (at $12.90). For the set meal, they serve something different every day, so there is quite a variety for you to try!
Lovely for breakfast or lunch.
A great way to start your day
It was my friend's birthday and we decided to start the day by having breakfast at Eggs and Berries. I was quite pleasantly surprised by the food.
Firstly, though there was a queue it took less than 5 minutes for us to be shown to a table. The food came in under 10 minutes despite the crowd. I had the veal sausage while my friend had the customisable 3-egg omelette.
It seems a little pricey but the portion makes up for it. My meal came with 3 mini pancakes (and 3 accompanying sauces - chocolate, strawberry and maple), a salad, rosti with light sour cream, fluffy scrambled eggs and a veal sausage. I liked how the rosti did not have an oily aftertaste and somehow the strawberry sauce goes extremely well with it. The scrambled eggs were served in a little cup and was delightfully smoothy and creamy. I never thought i'd describe eggs as creamy but yes, it was good.
As for the customisable omelette, you can choose 3 ingredients from a variety of vegetable and meats including bacon, beef, cheese, tomatoes, mushrooms etc
Overall, good and prompt service and tasty food at slightly high prices. Though I still find their prices more reasonable than other breakfast/Western cafes.
Soft, Warm Ambience To Go With Your Soft, Warm Eggs
The first thing that struck me when I entered Eggs & Berries was the friendly and warm atmosphere. Granted that, at around 9am, we were one of the first few customers of the day, the staff were welcoming (they seem to be morning people) and accommodated to our request to sit at a particular table with smiles.
The menu was centered around a common theme: Eggs! Of course. In tribute to the name of the establishment. I ordered an omelette with bacon and mushrooms which came with a side of pancakes, potatoes and some salad.
The omelette was done well, with a soft, creamy center and an outer layer that yielded with the lightest bite without falling apart on the fork. The mushroom filling was fragrant, accentuated with the aroma of bacon. We all love bacon, don't we? It was just warm enough not to taste flat on the tongue yet not so hot that the flavour could not be appreciated. The first bite got me hooked. The combination of egg, mushroom and bacon is exactly how it sounds - divine!
The pancakes were served with a basket containing maple syrup, chocolate syrup and a fruit jam which I did not try. The pancakes were fluffy, easily cut and went wonderfully well with the maple syrup.
This place is a clear winner. Good service, good food, reasonable prices. If in doubt about anything on the menu, the staff are more than willing to give a clear explanation so feel free to ask. I will definitely be back, though perhaps not so early in the day.
