Swatch was a popular watch brand that I used to always get back when I was in primary school. Each time my birthday or Christmas rolled around, I could always count on someone giving me a gift of a Swatch watch. On hindsight, it was a great gift because it wasn't "cheapo" but nor was it overly expensive. It had a wide range of funky colours and patterns that were suitable for me then and it had plastic straps which ensured that any drink spillage on it wouldn't ruin it. Think leather strap oops.
Although Swatch has this particular range of watches that I suppose are catered more towards young kinds, they also have other product types that are for a more mature audience. Especially from what I see, they are doing aggressive advertising in the cinemas, boasting of master pieces that are exquisite and finely crafted. When you step into a Swatch shop, I find that there is no pressure on you to purchase from them and that you can take your time and browse whatever they have on sale, which I like.
I don't wear watches but I think if you are clumsy or you are looking for just a simple and inexpensive watch, Swatch would be a good option because it lies comfortably in the middle of the price spectrum.
fun and durable watches
Swatch has a wide range of fun, quirky watches available, at mid-range prices, about $100+. The unconventional and unique designs allow you to better flaunt your sense of style and are sure to set your watch apart from typical leather or chain-strapped watches.
Most of the watches are very lightweight, which makes them comfortable to wear. Yet, they are also amazingly durable. When I went on a holiday to Japan recently, I wore my swatch everywhere throughout the trip, be it in the rain, snow, or even into hot spring baths (onsens) and saunas. It's still in perfect condition and working fine despite the extreme changes in temperatures and exposure to moisture, though! Really impressive, and worth the price.
