I went for the Europe 14Day Trip during an off-peak period, and paid 4k for the tour itself excluding hidden charges and expenses. In total, I would have paid an additional 700sgd approximately to the tour guide throughout the trip.
Tour guide was bent on making us to trust him, by repeatedly implying that he has high moral standards and giving us 'tips'. Perhaps it was a ploy to make us hand over our money without us questioning him? Tour guide was never rude to us, but had a way of making us feel bad if we choose to opt out of those 'optional' tours because then he has to find other ways to accommodate us etc etc.
Besides, there were huge discrepancies between what we paid for, and what the local companies charge for tourist attractions/ restaurants meals. Most of the tour activities that we did were just plain boring, such as the Amsterdam & Paris tours, which we had to pay for the additional costs. No idea why the tour guide would bring us there because if one had taken a quick look around, one would have realised that none of us were even interested in looking at the scenery. We also had to pay for tours that we didn't even wanted to go for, that we weren't even informed beforehand that we had to pay for it.
I wouldn't recommend SA Europe tours to anyone, but to those who have extra cash to splurge on, go ahead. I have to admit that the tour guide was really knowledgable about the countries we visited and was responsible in taking care of us. He just wasn't looking out for our wallets that's all.
Not so friendly customer service
While I was quite pleased with the tour package SA Tour offered, I felt that their service staffs lack a personable touch and an amicable feel. They were efficient in sourcing out details of flight details and timing, as well as details of itinerary, but lack friendliness when explaining to customers. Not such a great impression to let your customers have, I would think. It felt like they were trying to rush an explanation.
However, credit must still be given to them for having such detailed itinerary and layout of plans in their brochures. I have also heard of a lot of good reviews and recommendations (such as good accommodation and tour guide services) by friends to try out their services.
Haven’t personally tried out their tour group services, but am still considering their services (owing to positive feedback from others) for my next holiday!
Good for Hong Kong and Taiwan
When I was looking for a Hong Kong tour, I asked around and my friends recommended SA Tours to me. They told me that this was the company better known for its tours around this region. I understood from them that certain agencies could provide better services for certain regions based on their years of operating in the region and experiences in the region.
It was a good recommendation, the flight timing was good and the hotels booked for me were also at very good locations and shopping was just at the door step of our hotels. The meals provided were also at reputable restaurants. Actually, for Hong Kong, there was no need to join a tour group, I only did so because I did not want the hassle of arranging for my flights and hotels.
