Great for a simple meal that satisfies.
I’m not sure about you, but I tend not to like Taiwanese porridge as I feel it’s a watered down version of rice. However, the dishes that accompanied the porridge at Springleaf were so good that I asked for a refill of my porridge!
My absolute favorite from the restaurant is their Pork Floss Beancurd. For such an ordinary looking dish with few ingredients - literally just pork floss, silken beancurd, and black sauce, it is pretty mind-blowing. The beancurd is perfectly chilled, the sauce is thick and sweet, and the floss is crispier than usual. All of which tie in together to make a wonderful pairing for the otherwise mildly bland porridge.
Other dishes that are worth trying are their Fried Brinjal with Sambal and Minced Meat, and their Braised Pork Belly. In all, while the porridge is not stellar, their sides make the meal spectacular.
