First impression: Wow
A few years back, I visited the first ever GIANT Hypermarket at IMM, and I'm pretty ashamed to say that I almost got lost in it. This place is seriously HUGE, and you can really find all sorts of things here, ranging from clothes to electrical appliances, toys, fresh fruits and vegetables and even stationery.
Do remember to rent a trolley or basket at the entrance, because I believe you will end up buying lots and lots of stuff. The prices are not too shabby, and is considered cheaper compared to other places. Housewives will definitely love the fresh market section located behind, because you're simply spoilt for choice with a wide array of fresh vegetables and fruits.
However, GIANT Hypermarket is always packed during the weekends, and parking problems start to arise. So if possible, try to visit GIANT on a weekday night to avoid the usual crowd.
spoilt for choices
I think that Giant is a really nice place to buy food and snacks for BBQ and party, since there are so many different kind of tidbits and choices to choose from compared to other supermarket like Cold Storage and NTUC. I always feel happy whenever I go shopping in Giant as there are so many food there.
I think because it is bigger than other supermarkets, I do have to spend some time looking for the food I am looking for sometimes. Since it is so big, there are many people over there buying their grocery as well. So sometimes because of the crowd, I do not really feel like going in.
Awesome variety for shoppers!
I always visit the Giant hypermart located at VivoCity prior to going to Sentosa for my camping trips. The variety of groceries, fashion apparel, electronics, outdoor supplies, etc just never fails to fascinate me,
I find that the prices at Giant are very much competitive with NTUC, in the sense that these two hypermarts offer the best deals in town. At giant, though, the advantage is that they offer much more discounts for shoppers who love to buy in bulk. They have not compromised in quality over the years and I suspect that they never will.
their sales staff could use a little more training, though, as most of the time they are not really helpful and cannot be found when you require their services. I enjoy taking the time to walk through their hypermart and get a really good feel of the offers the have over there.
Giant truly is gigantic.
One of my favourite past time is grocery shopping. It gives me a sense of calm when I walk down the aisles of food and more food. However, I wouldn't say that Giant gives me such a feeling. Perhaps it's due to the high ceiling and the crowd. Even when it isn't crowded, it looks a bit too much like a market.
That being said, all the items are priced affordably and they have an extensive range of items. It is HUGE. Like NTUC, but much bigger. They even have a bakery inside Giant and a small stall selling dumplings so if you are hungry from shopping in the gigantic supermarket, you can always stop to grab a bite!
The queues are often long so try to avoid the supermarket on weekday evenings and especially on weekends. The wait will drive you crazy. The fresh vegetables are not exactly very fresh either and you will not only find household brands here. If you are someone who is very picky about the nutrition of your food or if you're someone who looks for brands that can only be found in U.S, skip Giant. Head to Cold Storage instead.
I go to Giant whenever I need to do one of my large scale grocery shopping trips. True to its name, this hypermarket is actually really really big and I can take up to 2hrs doing grocery shopping.
They have a huge selection of products, and the price is good too! What's not to love? At the same time, the service at Giant is pleasant. Sometimes I experience difficulties in finding something at Giant because it is just so big. However, it's easy to just approach their friendly staff and they'll gladly guide you to the aisle of the product you're looking for.
The Giant Hypermart is one of the few places in Singapore that lives up to its name. If the words "Giant" and "Hyper" didn't already tip you off, it is MASSIVE. It's not actually fair to call it a place for grocery shopping, since it offers practically everything: electronics, clothing, stationery in addition to groceries.
Despite being massive, Giant is still very crowded, but the reason why it draws crowds are the prices for its groceries. If the special offers are not good enough, you can choose to buy the in-house brand (Giant) for even more savings. You can even buy your groceries in bulk, as I have seen giant tubs of tomato ketchup and butter on sale there. These would normally be used for food outlets.
So if you're in the mood for savings, and don't mind the crowds, Giant is definitely the place for you.
Giant is definitely the one stop place for my girlfriend and I whenever we want to do some cooking at home. Be it Italian, Japanese or any other cuisine that you want to cook. Giant has a wide range of ingredients for you to choose from. The range of pasta could throw you off and sometimes, I have no idea where to start my grocery shopping!
A good thing about Giant is also halal and they separate the halal and non-halal meat very well. Thumbs up for this!
Apart from the hypermarket for groceries, Giant at Vivocity offers a range of household electrical appliances, furniture and household products at cheap prices. There are usually promotions selected electrical appliances every month.
In my family, my mum is the one who does all the groceries. And I think hypermarts like Giant are best suited to those like my mum, who make many purchases at one go, for the whole family. The shopping area in the Parkway Parade outlet is really overwhelming, as it spans the entire length of the mall.
I'm sure the size won't deter Giant's main clientele, who will take their time to get the best deals. Giant has lots of promotions, every day possibly, which they advertise in the main newspapers. If you are on a really tight budget, always check the papers or the internet first to see which products you should buy over others to get discounts.
Despite cutting costs, Giant doesn't stinge on quality. The fresh food is most of the time fresh, including the seafood.
Helpful service staff
Giant Hypermart is a super huge supermarket where you are able to get all your household needs and beyond. I frequently visit Vivocity and late night, I would go to Giant Hypermart to buy snacks and beverages. Above all that, I would still vividly remember how helpful the staffs are.
That evening, after a whole day out at Sentosa, my friend suddenly fell sick and we ran out of bottled water. We stood just outside Giant Hypermart, waiting for a cab. So, I decided to go into the Hypermart which happened to be closing. I told the staffs that my friend was very sick and I just needed to get a bottled water and a couple of medication for her. Initially the staff did not allow us to go in but after much persuasion, she let me in and I could finally purchase the items. I was grateful to her. The Hypermart was super huge so she helped me to get some of the items to save time. Since then, I had a good impression on Giant Vivocity and it is always one of my favourite supermarket.
Satisfaction in giant quantities
Giant is a hyper-supermarket where it is ideal for groceries purchases in bulk or even find equipments, clothing, toys and what not. Prices are undeniably of the best bargain when you are shopping at Giant. Besides the low prices, the fruits and vegetables selection is awesome. Freshest of the freshest at the lowest of lowest of prices. The bad thing about Giant is that the security is not tight or it is not as well-staffed so you might observe uncivilized acts of aunties having a feast of longans, for example, while you’re picking your longans.
The clothes section include cheap and basic clothes like your FBTs, basic shirts, intimates and bottoms which are suitable for wearing at home… Unless you’re not particular about dressing well when you’re out. You could also find tent equipment, children’s toys, DVDs and music CDs.
The array of products is also GIGANTIC (I mean well, its name says it all). The space is huge so it take you longer to find the items you need.
