Best place for groceries
I would term it my definite to-go for grocery shopping; over the other supermarts like Cold Storage, Giant and Sheng Shiong. Many reasons back them up, mainly being:
1. Convenience - You can find the various NTUC branches in almost every neighborhood
2. It's huge
3. Wide variety
4. Quality - Fresh food
5. Good layout - Things are found easily
My family shops for groceries once every month so each time, we tend to take up a lot of time just getting everything we need. Which is why we choose to patronize NTUC because they have everything shelved neatly along with their spacious layout with easy way-finding signs. These little things help us to cut down on time wasted.
We're also always able to find the things we're looking for at NTUC and their food quality are rated fresh!
A good one-stop for everything household.
Good in any way
Believe it or not, it is a weekly routine that I pay NTUC a visit with my mum. NTUC has the freshest vegetables, fishes, meat and fruits.
Apart from this fact, I love how the NTUC system works. Being environmentally-friendly, NTUC has come up with a 'Bring your own bag' campaign on every Wednesday. Not all stores recognize the harmful effects of excessive usage of plastic bags.
I prefer going to NTUC Finest because not only do they sell fresh ingredients, it also provides organic food. It is so convenient for consumers who are more health-conscious and it opens up another alternative for consumers to choose from, should other groceries store run out of stock of organic food.
First place I thought of when doing grocery shopping
NTUC is probably has the most number of retail shops scattered around the island and they offer a variety of products for customers to choose from conveniently and at affordable prices. Having said that, whenever I need to get some groceries or snacks, I would head down to NTUC to get my pick. One of their missions is to keep prices low for quality products, I think they have done that well. They do offer discounts and offers here and there throughout the year which allows you to accumulate your savings which ultimately, make you feel good shopping with NTUC.
They offer a variety of products, especially when it comes to fruits and vegetables, they are always so vibrant and fresh. It is especially so when you go to the NTUC finest. NTUC Finest also provides a wider selection of whole grains and organic products at affordable price, which is really nice for those health-conscious people. House products are available for cheaper alternatives where you can buy when you are on tighter budget. Only when some products aren't available in NTUC then I would head down to Cold Storage, like maybe a certain type of cheese or something.
Good place for grocery shopping
Grocery shopping at Fairprice is highly recommended because of its lower price than its competitors like cold storage and giant, and it is very convenient as there are outlets at almost every corner of singapore. The food selection is relatively fresh although my mum would only buy dry items and household items from Fairprice as she felt that the quality of fresh food in wet markets are better.
Fairprice household brands are also cheaper, offering 5% discount if you purchase their own brands. It is advisable to flip open the local newspapers every thursday and friday as they have weekly offers and discounts
Variety of food
I like shopping for grocery with my mum at NTUC at the shopping mall near my house. The reason I like it is because I find that NTUC has so many variety of food and vegetables, and tidbits as well. The prices are a little cheaper compared to Cold Storage and they offer more variety of food.
What i think NTUC is not as good as Cold Storage would be that Cold Storage is cleaner than NTUC. There always seems to be more people buying their grocery from NTUC compared to Cold Storage so I always have to queue for a long time before paying for my stuff.
I used to think that NTUC finest had their prices marked up (it's called finest for a reason right..? Finest products for finest prices haha) but I have friends who worked in NTUC and they told me otherwise. "The prices are all the same." That was when I began shopping in NTUC Finest.
I like NTUC because the of how affordable the prices are and they have so many things! You have got to keep your eyes open and look out for sales. Sometimes they have monthly promotions. I am quite a health foodie and it is only in NTUC that I am able to find my pure peanut-only peanut butter- and often only in NTUC Finest.
NTUC Finest also gives me a sense of calm that I often experience when grocery shopping in Market place or Cold storage and their fruits and vegetables are extremely fresh compared to Fairprice/Giant too! The store looks a lot newer as well which adds to the shopping experience.
Hypermart for the thrifty.
NTUC has come a long way from back when I was a kid. The NTUC hypermart at AMKHub is simply amazing in terms of product range and variety. From camping supplies to office supplies, the latest in electronics and sound systems to the freshest of cold cut meats for your gastronomical delight, NTUC certainly has everything to offer to everyone.
I do my shopping there at I always buy in bulk, which in addition to my membership discount, gives me quite a sizable discount and redeemable Linkpoints as well. I remember going there to look for a last-minute birthday cake for a friend, a Xmas log cake as a gift and also for my outdoor camping trip.
I hope they never grow old and stale.
Groceries And More!
NTUC Fairprice is the quintessential place for Singaporeans to go grocery shopping. it has outlets all around Singapore many of which are very conveniently located near MRT stations. You can most likely find an outlet very near to where you live.
The produce at NTUC Fairprice is extensive. However, the items that are stocked differ depending on which outlet you go to. For example, the NTUC at Ang Mo Kio Hub is not just a supermarket but a byper market, more like carrefour, it also sells clothes, electronics and kitchen appliances. On the other hand, other outlets may be labelled 'Fairprice Finest' such as the outlet at Thomson Plaza, such outlets stock more unique produce. For example, at Thomson Plaza there are aisles dedicated to Japanese ingredients and snacks as well as a whole section for organic fruits, vegetables, nuts and health foods. So be sure to look out for what kind of NTUC it is to get an idea of what kind of produce it sells.
The best thing about NTUC would be its price and convenience, but for freshness I still feel that Cold Storage sells fresher fruits and vegetables as compared to NTUC (although at a more expensive price). Cold Storage outlets are also less convenient than NTUC outlets.
If you go to NTUC often remember to sign up for the card so that you can get discounts when you make your purchases!
"Auntie, you see!"
NTUC Fairprice is a reputable supermarket in Singapore which has almost 40 years of history. From being the "Aunties'" favourite spot for groceries, to being made fun of its name by children (NTUC sounds like 'Auntie you see"). Not only does Fairprice keep its supermarkets clean, it also provides fresh food at cheaper rates (where the name 'Fairprice' comes from).
If you're unwilling to travel to other supermarkets like Sheng Siong or Giant for cheaper groceries, try NTUC Fairprice. It has many branches in Singapore, in highly populated neighbourhoods such as Toa Payoh and Ang Mo Kio, which provides a higher convenience for shoppers. Besides your everyday groceries, NTUC Fairprice also offers a wide range of 'high-end' groceries, sold in 'Fairprice Finest".
All in all, it sells almost every thing you may need, at a pretty reasonable price too!
I myself personally have worked in NTUC fairprice over a period of 1 month during my school holidays, and among all the supermarkets that i've seen in singapore, NTUC is although not the best but considered quite clean and well organised in it's arrangement of products and service provided. It was easy to find different stuff as all were grouped in different departments with huge logos hanging above the department so there shouldn't be any problems finding stuff, especially when you're in a hurry for time, not to mention the spacious area specially designed for consumers to shop with ease. The staff that i worked with are kind and friendly too, teaching me along the way whenever i have any doubts, i guess that's how NTUC earned it's place as the most popular supermarket in Singapore!
