Quality food at a good price

Visited Fatty Choo on a Sunday evening near closing and was so privileged to have practically the entire restaurant to ourselves. This meant prime picks from the well-stocked food counter including the (gasp) free flow snow crab! Right from the get go I was sold when the manager kept bringing out more food for us even though we were his last customers for the night.

The sheer variety of food was overwhelming. There were all kinds of sliced meat, meat balls (including my favourite chicken cheese ball), seafood and vegetables. The prawns and snow crab were fresh and I don't remember how many times I thought I had enough and ended up going back for more. You're allowed to pick two flavours for the soup base out of Bah Kut Teh, Tom Yum, Chicken and Japanese Bonito. My family picked chicken and tom yum which was a good mix because you can always dip the tom yum items into the chicken soup to kill the spiciness but still keep the tom yum flavour. The soups were delicious and thick. The DIY rojak counter was also well stocked and the nonya laksa was warm and fragrant.

My family especially loved the durian pengat dessert but their only gripe was that it came in too small servings. The manager saw my mom scraping at the end of her glass and gave us the rest of the dessert and even brought out 3 more! If durian is not your cup of tea they also have ice-cream with toppings and fresh fruit for dessert.

I paid $32.90 for a weekend dinner buffet and while it might seem costly I felt the spread was well worth the price. Take note though that the lunch prices are cheaper but do not include snow crab. Fatty Choo is definitely a must-try for those craving a homely delicious meal.
