Crispy and fragrant meat pastries!
My mother hails from Seremban so from a young age I’ve been familiar with its many yummy food offerings, one of which is the iconic Seremban Siew Pow. Sadly, as I grew older I found myself having less opportunities to visit Seremban, and also found myself missing the Siew Pow more. So imagine my surprise when I chanced upon a stall at Old Airport Road Hawker Centre selling these delights!
I ordered both the pork and chicken versions, but preferred the pork variant as I found the meat less dry. The char siew filling was tender, with the perfect blend of saltiness and a slight sweetness from the meat. Nevertheless, the chicken siew pow made for a tasty snack too! Both pows had a divine buttery and savoury pastry crust which was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. While not exactly like the Seremban version, it's real close!
I imagine that packing a few home and reheating it in the oven would make for an awesome supper. Or breakfast. Or lunch. Or dinner.
