The best chocolates in Singapore
Godiva is a Belgium company that specializes in luxury chocolates. I absolutely love their range of chocolate truffles, such as the white truffle Belgian Chocolate and Dark chocolate ones. In fact, Godiva sells superior chocolates even to upscale chocolate brands Royce and Vosges. Of course, it is natural that high quality chocolates cost a lot more than the average chocolates found in NTUC - I blew $350 at one go on Christmas presents!
Recently, Godiva introduced soft served chocolate and vanilla ice cream in their shops. I adore their soft serve ice cream and it is now my favourite food item from Godiva. I would recommend the chocolate flavour over the Vanilla as their chocolate flavoured ice cream tastes extremely rich and I could literally taste the cocoa. On the other hand, their vanilla flavour is nothing special. (This is expected, as Godiva is a Chocolatier afterall)
Godiva is the best chocolate you can get in Singapore. If you have a penchant for chocolate, I would strongly recommend Godiva! Also, Godiva chocolates make a really good christmas or valentines day present!
Nicer to see than to eat
When I first saw that Godiva was selling chocolate ice cream I was really excited, but I was slightly disappointed when I tried it. The ice-cream is decent, but decent can’t compete with the many excellent ice cream parlours around Singapore.
The chocolate wafer cone that the ice cream is served in was decorated with dark chocolate and nuts at the edges, and the ice cream was slathered in chocolate sauce. I liked that it looked amazing, but I could tell that the wafer was not fresh and lacked crisp.
Overall, even though it carries the Godiva brand, and gets top marks for presentation, the ice cream fails to stand out from the crowd.
"Lady Godiva, my only friend"
I suppose Blair Waldorf was right in her worthy aphorism proclaiming her love for Godiva - Godiva does sell superior chocolates even to upscale chocolate brands Royce and Vosges. Not easily found just anywhere, Godiva is the gift of choice of people returning on business trips bearing presents to placate neglected spouses and children. It is also a good comfort eat - if you can afford it, that is.
Godiva chocolates are so rich and decadent. I especially like their truffle chocolates - placing one of them into your mouth would instantly engulf you in chocolatey goodness, and melting it with your tongue would reveal an inside that's sweeter than professionally written greeting cards, and less artificially so, to boot!
While I do love the chocolates, I hate the prices - they tend to be rather unaffordable for me. Even so, I dream of receiving these boxes as gifts ;)
For chocolate lovers
Godiva chocolates have been one of the top choices for gifts due to its top notch quality chocolates as well as their classy and not over the top packaging. Personally, I have received godiva chocolate truffles a couple of times and was never disappointed after trying their chocolate truffles. Though I'm not a chocolate fan, these truffles really hit all the right spots and can be very comforting especially on a bad day.
I loved their hazelnut truffle where the chocolate was bitter yet sweet at the same time and the hazel nutty flavor enhanced the entire experience. The truffles were smooth and rich and each time I popped a truffle into my mouth, I knew I was in for a good treat as the flavors exploded in my mouth.
I highly recommend Godiva to people who are looking to try good quality chocolate truffles. Be prepared to spend quite a bit on these babies but it is truly worth it in my opinion. Quality comes with a heftier price tag after all.
I am sure Godiva isn't a foreign brand to most of us. It is a Belgium company specializing in luxury chocolates and I love their range of chocolate truffles, especially the matcha flavored one (!!!). They carry a huge range of gift chocolates and will make a good gift choice for anyone who loves chocolates. Depending on the season, they will also carry limited seasonal collections and even wedding collections. If you are unsure of what to buy, the staff there are usually friendly enough to help you out.
I love ANYTHING matcha and of course, the truffles are no exception. The matcha milk truffle pieces are sold for $14.00 for 5 pieces. It is expensive but it is exclusive and a real treat! The truffles are packaged individually, wrapped like candy so it's convenient to have it on-the-go. The matcha is slightly bitter and goes well with the rich and intense milk chocolate. The chocolate is smooth to the palate as well. I still love my Toblerone and Cadbury but whenever I am craving matcha chocolate truffles, this is the place I go to because I cannot get it anywhere else other than here. I highly recommend this place if you love high quality and exquisite truffles because trust me, you won't be able to taste anything as fine as this anywhere else.
One can go through a whirlwind of emotions when indulging in Godiva chocolates. Personally, as I take the very first bite of their dark chocolate, I get transported into heaven, bouncing about on clouds with angels strumming on harps and the sun shining down on me like a picture of purity.
Individuals will definitely experience food-gasm similar to Meg Ryan in the restaurant scene in When Harry Met Sally. With their high quality chocolates, I can understand why everyone seems to be coming back for more even with their steep prices.
Godiva is without a doubt my number one splurging choice for those once in a blue moon chocolate cravings.
Byword for indulgence...
Godiva in my humble opinion should earn for itself a place in the Oxford English dictionary for the meaning of indulgence.
People only go to Godiva when they have hit the jackpot, want to impress their significant other or when they know they are going to die the next day and they have not yet experience orgasm. Their chocolates are that good.
Personally, the one time I actually blew $300 on chocolates was for their white truffles Belgian chocolate. It was awesome and not to mention that I had the best sex ever in my life that night! But do take note, this is not something you have on a regular basis unless you are some sort of tycoon!
The King of Cocoa
Godiva’s quality and standard is well-known, so much so that many have their taste buds spoilt and are willing to fork out the hundreds of dollars just for the palatable bliss that Godiva offers.
I am definitely not a fan of chocolates but when I do have cravings, I either head for kit kats or Godiva. One rich-tasting truffle, however, is already enough to satisfy my temporary and rare chocolate cravings. I have received and bought Godiva as gifts, so for those not knowing what to get, Godiva seems to be a good option.
Who cares about the price?
The Godiva chocolates I purchased dripped with exquisiteness. They were coated with a rich brown or white chocolates that made passers-by drool within an instant. I certainly did! Almost. I prevented it by purchasing these assortment of truffles, no matter the price.
My wallet felt lighter. I was engulfed with a fusion of exhilaration and desperation. Desperate for more cash that is. Exhilarated with my purchase. My coins and notes were begging to be used despite hearing a voice saying "No!No!Bankrupt!" at the back of my head. I ignored it. I bit into a truffle that was sprinkled with hazelnuts. Bliss. My box of truffles became empty within seconds. I wonder what and where does Godiva's cocoas come from.
Their high quality chocolates are like little drops of heaven. It was good to know the actual cocoa content in Godiva's chocolates, at least I know that I'm paying for what they are worth. I actually bought their chocolates for my mom (a fan of dark chocolate with nuts) and she absolutely loved it. It was a nice gift for a once-in-a-while indulgence.
I had the most pleasant encounter with a middle-aged lady working at Changi Airport Terminal 2's Godiva Chocolatier. She was very friendly and even stepped out from behind the counter to assist me. She was very knowledgable about the store's products and gave suggestions based on my preferences. The excellent service she had provided me was commendable and it made me really happy. Two thumbs up for the great service!
