Hansang Style!
The best thing about Hansang, aside from the delicious, authentic Korean cuisine, is that you get to eat Korean BBQ without the odour getting into your hair and clothes. You can order the BBQ meat you want, and it can be prepared in the kitchen instead of you having to fry it at your own table. For diners who prefer the DIY experience, a separate section of the restaurant is kitted out with all the bells and whistles (Korean BBQ table device and exhaust chimneys).
The aperitif side dishes (I especially recommend the bean sprouts, the spinach and the milk cabbage kim chee), are particularly tasty. I also tried seafood pancake and Korean BBQ beef, which were superb. The roasted barley tea (you can choose hot or iced) complemented the food perfectly.
Not exactly budget dining, but good value for money.

Good quality BBQ
The BBQ here is not a bad choice to go for quality Korean BBQ in a comfortable setting. Conveniently located in novena, it mostly attracts families.
My favourite would be the boneless chicken for BBQ. The chicken is tender and very nicely marinated. Another would be the marinated beef short rib. They all come in good sized portions. The bbq meat goes very well with the bean (miso) sauce and the salt and oil sauce so be sure to dip the meat in them before eating!
The complimentary side dishes is important in Korean cuisine and Hansang happens to serve one of the best side dishes in town. The potato salad especially is sure to be enjoyed by both adults and children. There is separate section of the restaurant which sells the side dishes served and my mum always buys it back to go with rice. The kimchi especially is well seasoned and has the right mix of spiciness and sourness.
You could also try the seaweed birthday soup from the ala carte menu which comes with rice. The soup is full of flavour but light and seaweed being very nutritious, is another reason why you should try it at least once. Unfortunately there is no free flow of vegetables to wrap the barbequed meat in.
Service is good on empty days but can get very slow when it gets more crowded. Often I had to ask the waiters several times before my order went through or before my request was being processed. However, good food is worth the wait.
