Brings out your love for classical music
I have to admit that I hardly listen to 92.4 FM even though I like classical music. The first time I actually listened to it was when it was broadcasted before my O'level English LC exam. I went in to the classroom thinking that it would be good practice for my music exam which was on the following day. While most of my other classmates were dozing off or getting distracted I was in complete bliss. I absolutely enjoyed every minute of it as I knew almost every single piece!
For some reason I was so awed by the fact that all my favourite pieces were played. My friend and I ended up marveling over the pieces we heard instead of discussing the listening comprehension paper.
I would definitely encourage everyone to listen to this radio channel. It is a great way to listen to famous pieces and discover the styles of the different composers. I do wish that they would mention the works before playing it as I myself can not remember the exact title of my favourite pieces. Nevertheless, it allows Singaporeans to appreciate classical music in this modern world where pop music is favoured.
Music for the masses
My friends and I grew up listening to pop and rock. Classical music was not really an option unless you got the dough and enough interest to pursue that interest. Having little of the latter and even less of the former, we lapped up everything the radio threw us and survived on junk music till adulthood. It was tough, but we made it.
Today, Symphony 92.4 gives anyone the option to feel cultured anytime, anywhere. Whether you are a musician or a plumber, you can just turn on the radio and listen to free classical music instantly. The idea to transform the elitist stereotype of classical music is genius and will definitely create more Beethovens among us. I can already see its fruits in my friend who's still in primary school but plays 3 different instruments and performs overseas for his school occasionally. It comes as no surprise when he told me Symphony 92.4 is his favourite radio station of all time.
Got me interested in classical music
I'll admit that I first tuned in to this channel not because I am fond of classical music, but because I wanted to calm myself down before a big interview. I still follow that ritual of listening to classical music before a nerve-wracking life activity but as time went by, I started to develop an appreciation for classical music.
The station shows a great taste in selecting good instrumental tracks to get me intrigued in this genre of music. Through frequent listening to the channel, my knowledge of the genre quickly expended beyond movie themes and gaming soundtracks. For that I thank Symphony 92.4 for introducing me to this world of music that I would otherwise not have known much about.
Symphony 92.4FM is the radio station that is constantly on in the car(unless when my mum wants to listen to 100.3). The soothing classical music helps my nerves whenever I am heading for an examination and helps me to destress. In fact, whenever I feel ill, the music played on this radio station helps me to unwind (:
Their DJs usually have calm voices and are able to pronounce the insanely long names of the composers of the symphonies well, kudos to them for that as I doubt I'll be able to pronounce it!!
There is a wide range of music played, from upbeat orchestras to piano music. All which aid in concentration and relaxation (:
Definitely worth tuning in to.
"Good music, good life"
Symphony 92.4 is my dad's favourite radio station. It's the default radio station which he tunes in to in his car so every time I take a ride, I listen to it as well. Sometimes, he sends me to school before my exams and however frantic I feel, the music never fails to soothe my frayed nerves.
I love the classical music it plays. There's a good variety, from purely piano pieces to entire orchestras. The deejays also have good knowledge of the pieces and composers (some more than others of course), which is interesting to know. I found it especially helpful when I had piano exams, and had to learn about the different classical music eras (e.g. baroque, romantic, etc.) to identify them for the aural component.
Educational, calming, and highly enjoyable.
Soothing for the soul
At one point in time I was rather sick of the current music I listened to. So I played around with the radio, tuning the FM up and down and stumbled upon Symphony 92.4. It is a unique station which only plays classical music and I found this station enjoyable to listen to, much to my surprise.
I realized how relaxing classical music could be compared to other musical genres. Despite some of the pieces being long and draggy, the music this station plays never fails to make me feel better. During my Mother Tongue O levels in May, Symphony 92.4 was the station that broadcasted the Chinese listening comprehension test. I was feeling the screaming meemies that time and tensions were culminating in me. However before the exam, the station continued to play classical music. That really calmed my nerves alot and I thought I did okay for the exam (can't say the same for the rest though).
Only a handful of people I know listen to classical music which is why I think classical music is underrated. I suggest giving classical music a chance and listening to Symphony 92.4 is the way to go!
I listened to it a day before my PSLE
The very first time I ever came across 92.4FM was at a night before my first PSLE paper. I was randomly browsing through the radio stations as I couldn't fall asleep (It was a night before my examination, you know.). Those classical musics played were really smoothing and it definitely did calm me down a lot better.
Ever since that very fateful night, I have the habit of tuning to 92.4FM whenever I'm having examination the next day. You can say that this is one of my tools in keeping myself cool and relax during such anxious atmosphere.
Music I listen to when I'm doing work
This station has accompanied me throughout my O'level days.
I'd switch on this station when I'm studying and it greatly maximizes my concentration. No crass, lazy, sad, happy, annoying lyrics to annoy me. Sheer music and it's symphonic power to pool all my concentration together for maths questions.
I never actually remembered the names of any of the tunes they play and it's not like I could go search "de de dum dum DUMMMM DA" on Google and try to get a hit for it. If there is a day-to-day update of the songs they play daily let me know, so I can download some onto my phone and listen to them when I'm feeling drunk.
Pretty such a good symphonic piece would sober me up.
Good for the soul
92.4FM has been one of my favourite radio stations all these years. Being a classical music station, it offers me the kind of music that almost no other station can offer.
Sometimes when i don't feel like listening to pop music, i would switch to this station and indulge in the calm, relaxing music. It serves as a really good companion when I'm studying as well!
I have always been enjoying the music from this station as well as the soothing voices of the deejays; theres nothing more i can ask for!
I love classical music; growing up with the likes of Bach, Schumann, Chopin, and Mozart has fostered a love for the piano and violin since i was a kid. I feel that this is probably the most underrated radio station currently operating. Most people don't really understand the complexities and intricacies of classical music, and it is quite a shame. Symphony 92.4 doesn't only play the favourites (such as Canon in D or Fur Elise), they also play pieces that aren't exactly exposed to the general public, making it a good platform for people to learn and experience new music. A fantastic station.
