Epic is one of the biggest Apple authorised reseller in Singapore with branches every where. Generally their service standard are pretty good, as their staff are quite experienced and also very knowledgeable. They are able to advise customers promptly with the technical specifications of the product be it laptop or desktop. However, not all the standards are the same through out the branches.
I went to a branch at suntec city a few months ago to purchase a sound system for a friend. The staff were generally polite and very proactive in introducing the different iphone systems that they had. I am probably being picky about their service but as i was not a iphone user, i asked if i could test the speaker system and whether anyone of them had one that i could borrowed. One of the staff appeared slightly reluctant but he still demonstrated the system to me. But just testing the system for a few seconds, he immediately asked if it was ok, as if he was in a great hurry to claim back his phone and his face was not smiling.
Well, i thought that if i wanted to buy a speaker system, it is not too much for me to ask for a testing and no need to show me that he does not like it. They could just have a sample phone for testing next time.
I am not much of a Apple user as I only owns an Iphone, but I have always been very interested to try Apple gadgets, Epic Centre is like a playground for me!
Epic Centre is a large Apple products retailer, they sell all of the apple products such as iphones, ipods, macbooks and apple tv. They provide excellent customer service and explain to you all the functions and specifications, so that they will help you clear any doubts that you had.
It's definitely a one stop centre for you to get all your Apple gadgets. Apart from that they also sell other accessories such as earphone, screen protectors and casing for your gadgets.
Of course, as we all should know it, Apple controls the prices of their products. So, don't expect any of their premium retailers to sell Apple products cheaper than that of the Apple online store. There are mainly 3 premium retailers in Singapore - Juzz 1, Nubox and EpiCentre. For me, i feel that EpiCentre is the best one of the three as they carry a wider variety of non apple products such as iPhone cases and screen protectors. Store layout and Apple product wise, all three are VERY similar as Apple controls all these.
However, i feel that unless you're in a hurry to buy an apple product... just purchase it off the Apple online store. Its almost hassle free - Free FAST... SUPER fast shipping and its all at the same price. So for me, i'd save the trip down to the store and get that extra security (because the product is purchased directly from Apple, not a distributor)
Most of us have mixed feelings when we get a macbook, for the simple fact that it is so overpriced yet it is so sleek and yet complex. That is what EPICentre is about. Any Macbook owner would know that buying an expensive item would come together with expensive add ons, and these add ons such as a mouse and laptop case are sold at Epicentre.
It serves as the epicentre of the Mac business in Singapore and most mac owners will find it impossible to disregard the store as everything in there looks so lucrative and up to date with the world. This is simply another act of Market skimming, and it seems that it is something that we will not get out of.
Epicentre was where I bought my first ipod from. Amongst many Apple resellers, I chose Epicentre because of their wide range of apple products and they also have a website where I can browse their products.
The thing about Epicentre is that they can't reduce the prices of the Apple products that they sell. I find this quite pointless. If they were going to sell apple products, why don't they sell it at a cheaper price to get more customers to buy their products? If all apple resellers sell their products at the same price. The competition amongst them will be in terms of how convenient their position of their stall is.
In order to gain the upper hand, I feel that they should an incentive to lure customers to come to buy products form their store instead of their competitors. I learnt that Challenger, another IT store, are selling their apple products to members. Maybe Epicentre could follow suit.
I have always liken the idea of supporting our local entrepreneurs because they know our culture, habits and mindset the best. Epicentre, winner of 2011 Entrepreneur of the Year is one such firm I support.
Epicentre have very good staff. This is done by choosing young teenagers on the passion of apple products and equipping them with the much-needed knowledge if they have not have many and producing a clear and concise selling and servicing system. The staff at epicentre knows their stuff generally, but could do with a bit more specifics on brand reliability vs brand recognition of 3rd party products and a combined skill-set of an engineer and a sales staff would be even more ideal.
Talking about 3rd party products, Epicentre have a wide variety of 3rd party products to accompany your apple products. Sadly, it is like casting a big net into the sea and hope you will get something good. They should find out more about the products and their brands more so that even though the 3rd party products are expensive, they are extremely reliable compared to having cheap useless 3rd party products. The reason they shift in that mindset could be the Singaporean habit of buying or getting freebies but this should never deter the company to sell products with a higher marked-up price which maybe inferior in quality.
Epicentre is generally catered to bargain buyers and entice them with weekly deals on apple products tied with 3rd party products. This is done nicely and have been the selling point of the company so far. Buying my macbook pro and my ipod touch was a breeze and knowing that they do carry the 3rd party products I'm looking for makes the shopping experience amazing.
As a Mac user on a tight budget, I don't buy accessories for my Mac. I've only been to EpiCentre to service my Mac, when I had some trouble with the hardware. Back then, my warranty had expired for one week, and I had to persuade the eServ (the service centre) staff to make an exception for me. They made clear that they could not guarantee anything, but I was pleased to receive a call later from eServ informing me that they had succeeded in getting Apple to accede to my request.
The physical centre runs efficiently, to me at least. Even though the queue at Wheelock can be quite long sometimes, the staff are pretty fast. What impresses me most is that, even if you are there just to enquire about small problems (dirty screen), the staff will discuss them with you with seriousness and not hurry to settle it.
If you want reliable, conscientious service for your Apple products, I would certainly recommend eServ.
The Epic Centre Store was a premium reseller of Apple Products from iPhones, iPods, iPads Macbooks and many other kind of stuffs that apple have make and improve on throughout the past few years of development and productions by Steve Jobs, till last year when the news of the man behind Apple's Success have passed away due to a rare disease and became a sensation and the legacy that he left behind while he was still alive.
Well, lets move on the Epic Centre store now shall we? The store is much rather wide and clear due to the standard wooden furniture settings which makes it kinda like ' American home style ' and the colors of the Mac PC was matching to the furniture. Most of the device and electronics there were just plaint Black, White and Silver colors, as consumer can get a wide choice of variety when they are going to pick a different color of casing for their device in the store itself.
The customer service and support crew were very friendly and efficient about their work, they approach to almost everybody in store asking if they need help and even give them the pros/cons about each product and ask them if they are going to use it for school or work, and comparing all the different models and products for the customers. This is customer service that I'll be grateful to.
Nowadays most of us own at least one of the apple products which makes our life easier, and almost 50% of Singaporeans are using iPhone this days!
