Big Splash gets it's name from it's past -- a former water park that featured a 85m long water-slide and other water features. It has since been redeveloped and transformed into a dining and recreation hub for all to enjoy!
There are quite a number of restaurants and bars within Big Splash itself, namely Sushi Tei, Crab in Da Bag, Cotton, Brussels Sprouts and The Coast Bistro and Bar. They also have skate and bicycle rental shops within the vicinity for the sport lovers, as well as Starbucks and Old Town White Coffee for those who just wish to kick back and relax with friends or family. Personally, I enjoy visiting Big Splash in the evenings or nights, to avoid the blazing hot Singapore sun and large crowds of East Coast Park. For young and old alike, it provides a perfect setting for family outings, meet up with old friends and even a romantic date.
A drawback of this place though would be it's inaccessibility, unless you drive. Parking spaces are in abundance, and really affordable as well. For those taking the bus (there is no train station anywhere nearby), be prepared for a long wait... Or a really long walk.
