Trendy atmosphere with tasty food and delicious cocktails
For the longest time I felt that Singapore lacked trendy restaurants which serve both Asian fare and great cocktails. With all these new restaurants springing up, I was so pleased to discover Ding Dong, a new South East Asian restaurant opened by renown chef, Ryan Clift (famous for the Tippling Club). It's located along Ann Siang Hill, which is perfect for adventurous folk who actually like to stay out for cocktails after dinner.
Upon entering Ding Dong, we were greeted by fun, bright and playful decor. We sat at the bar area, overlooking the street. We started our night with some cocktails. There was a diverse range available on the menu - for those of you who like light, refreshing, sweet cocktails, I'd highly recommend Atas at the Market. For those who like it real strong, definitely get the Pegu Club!
The menu boasts a "small plates" and "big plates" section which is perfect for those who like to order a few dishes and share. You can't leave without having tried their Vietnamese scotch eggs (a hard boiled egg, wrapped in sausage meat & breadcrumbs then baked! Yum!). The yolk was nice and gooey, while the meat was juicy and slightly crisp on the outside. Other hits include the calamari as well as the dark soy pork belly. Don't bother with the lamb ribs as they were pretty gamey!
