This is one of the first mosques to be completed under the Mosque Building Fund. The masjid serves the residents of Ang Mo Kio and can accommodate up to 3,500 worshippers.
It has gone beyond its religious functions to offer homeopathy treatment at its clinic as well as acupuncture services. Besides that, it offers the usual madrasah and kindergarten classes as well as social development programmes.

Anybody who had lived in Ang Mo Kio or had passed through it on the way to the library or the opposite direction would find it hard to miss this mosque. My childhood and this mosque were closely linked. At this mosque, I received my first religious education at their madrasah.
I also frequent this mosque for Friday prayers. As I grew up, I realised that this mosque was built like a medieval fortress. It is massive and with its tall minaret, I thought that in an urban war this mosque could be turned into a citadel.
The surrounding area had undergone plenty of changes but this mosque continues to be a focal point for the Muslim community in AMK and those who live on the outskirts of the town. There's plenty of life here from daily classes for children to the nightly classes and lectures for adults conducted by some of the most sought after teachers in Singapore and sometimes Malaysia.
If you wish to perform your Friday prayers here, do not come too late for you will not be able to get a comfortable spot to perform your prayers. I once had to pray in the open inner courtyard under the blazing mid-day sun because I dallied over lunch. Lesson learnt for me and I hope that others won't commit the same folly as me.
