This four-storey mosque was opened for prayers on 2 May 2003. It could accommodate about 5,000 worshippers in a single congregation. The building comprises a basement car park, 18 classrooms, an auditorium for 130 people, a computer room and a lift serving all floors, making it one of the most comprehensively designed mosques.

What were the architects thinking?
I am not going to question the functionality of this mosque. I am confident that it serves its purpose and even more. It is, I think, the biggest mosque around and I am sure that it has something to do with the size of the Muslim community of Bt Panjang.
I was there once for a seminar. Though it is impressively built with plenty of facilities, I just couldn't help thinking that the manner in which that the size was achieved was a tad vulgar. It looked a little like some of the buildings at Universal Studios. I just wished that the architects could have been more subtle.
