Brings all the boys (and girls) to the yard
I know of many who love milkshakes but it always seemed as though the only place to get them were at burger bars, but this concept is quite genius. Somehow they seem rather underrated still. I had their Baileys Babe milkshake and it was great. Milkshakes tend to get rather thick in consistency and get difficult to drink but this was all right. Plus, the Bailey's taste was quite distinct, which was great.
Plus, they're actually very affordable for such premium quality. I remember having really bad milkshakes and paying about $7 for them? Ridiculous, as Nancy Goh would say. Anyway, they come in various sizes, which is good for those who want to satisfy their milkshake cravings but can't finish a normal sized cup by themselves. We also had some of their desserts but I think you can skip those. They were decent, but not stellar.
Once Upon A Milkshake has to be the only store I know that serves $2.90 mini milkshakes. I have always wanted to taste different flavours of milkshake but due to the standard regular size that Milkshakes are serve in, I could not finish them and it will be a waste of money.
The first time I came across the menu, my jaw literally drop. I did not know there were so many milkshake flavours! It took me about 5 minutes to order. The kind front counter girl was so patient towards me.
When I finally came to a conclusion, I had the Little Hazelnutella. Yum! I felt like I was in a dream just by drinking the milkshake. I make it a point to try every flavour once every time there is a store nearby. Today, I'm left with 8 flavours.
More of an indulgence than anything
'Once upon a milkshake' milkshakes can be quite an indulgent spend mostly. The milkshakes are rather rich and despite the heavenly taste, it's pretty easy to tell that they're not the most healthiest option. Nonetheless, spoiling yourself once in a while wouldn't hurt anyone.
I can be extremely indecisive when it comes to food. I hardly ever know what I want, so the fact that once upon a milkshake has a daily discount menu saves me the trouble of standing at the counter, starting at the menu board for 10 minutes straight. Every day of the week, there's a discount on one of their specialties. I don't remember what I've tried and what I've not, but I do remember liking all of them. They can be a little heavy to sip on while you're eating lunch or something. So I'd say they make a great filler for that period of time between lunch and dinner when most of us get hungry.
The prices aren't exactly too reasonable. They can be pretty steep. So they just contributes to my point on how they're more of an indulgence.
Drinking Ice cream
I absolutely love milk shakes, and when I first saw this I was expecting it to be a new hit in the local market, somewhat like the bubble tea craze. But to my disappointment the milkshake era just breezed by quietly without much.
I tried the milkshake from this store once, and my was that an unforgettable experience. I wouldnt say that it is all bad because it really isnt, but having too much of just made me feel really sick. The milkshake is very thick, which is good but it is somewhat too think, and drinking it just made me feel like I was perpetually slurping ice cream up from a straw. I liked the idea of blending different flavours together because I got to be creative and could pick out from the funky flavours that they created, very much different from the typically original milk shake flavours. The staff too are very friendly and provided advice on milkshake ideas.
Pricing wise, it is also rather costly, which explains why I only had it once. It is a rather cool concept, a shame that it is a little too overpriced and not too addictive.
Nothing too special.
Like most of the other reviewers, I was attracted to this shop because of how it was themed and designed. I love the menu concept, with each flavour being personified by a different character; I think they did a really good job with that. The staff were friendly as well, and we chit-chatted for a bit while my milkshake was being blended.
However, I found nothing special with the taste of the milkshakes themselves weren't anything extraordinary, which was disappointing after my initial take on the shop. The price for a 'mini' cup was also pretty steep, so it felt like a waste of money overall.
As with froyo and bubbletea chains, I'm sure there is or there will be other better alternatives to Ouam for milkshakes.
I often walked past their store and had always wanted to try one of their milkshakes because I thought their concept was pretty cool. But when I did, it was one of the things I regretted ever trying. I tried their Agent Red Velvet milkshake which was really thick even though the color came out a nice red. After 2 mouthfuls, I felt sick of the drink already. I couldn't even finish the small cup I ordered. I am a fan of red velvet cake but definitely not a fan of red velvet milkshakes. Secondly, for a drink that got me bored so quickly, I felt even worse wasting so much money on it.
Basically, I wouldn't go back to try the other flavours and I'm sure there are better milkshakes that you can try elsewhere.
I got a regular sized Agent Red Velvet milkshake from the ION branch. It wasn't supremely sweet but it was thick. I was actually surprised that I could finish the entire cup while walking around Orchard. Some people have said that the milkshakes are so thick that they can't even finish half of a small-sized cup. So yeah, I guess I have a high tolerance for 'jelak' stuff.
The texture was smooth and the ice cream was well-blended with the milk they used. The milkshakes are expensive but good as a treat once in a while.
Premium milkshake at premium pricing
Premium milkshake at premium pricing. Once upon a milkshake attracted me because of the cute images, purple theme (one of my favourite color) and the unique names they gave to their milkshake flavours. I passed by their outlets numerous times but never once purchase one cup to try as I was turned off by the pricing. The first time I tried was a treat from the boss and I ordered Rum and Raisin. It is really good, in fact it tasted like melted ice cream as it was super thick and creamy. Really hard to drink it through a straw, so just ask them for a spoon. The spoon is a good idea as it doesn’t sound unpleasant when you try to suck up the last reminding bit of milkshake at the end using the straw.
Every now and then they introduce new flavours. But it still doesn’t entice me to be a repeated customer as the price does not justify the size of the milkshake. It is really a tiny cup! But oh wellz the amount of calories will make you feel that the tiny cup is enough. I will recommend but only if you have never tried it.
The first time I’ve tried Once Upon a Milkshake was when the staff gave me a small cup for tasting. The first gulp was DELICIOUS though I didn’t proceed to buy a bigger cup. I kept in mind that I will return back one day to purchase a whole cup. & Yes, I went back a few weeks later at the Ion outlet to purchase their chocolate milkshake.
It was refreshingly delicious at the first sip and then, I had the second sip and third sip. By the time I had half the cup, I couldn’t continue anymore. Though it is yummy having to down the chilling chocolate milkshake, it is laden with sugar and it’s too sweet for me after a few sips. Honestly, this feels SOOOO fattening when I gulp down half the cup. Definitely not recommended for the weightwatchers!
The milkshake is very thick in the texture and flavor. Also, the price is considered quite expensive for a cup of milkshake! However, I would like to commend on the uniqueness of the shop name as well as the name of the flavours! If you have, check them out!
Probably one of the better milkshakes around, serving's really small!
Once Upon a Milkshake, probably would be one of the few milkshake stores around in Singapore that I've tried before, is definitely a great chilling drink, especially after a long day of work or school.
This was one of the favourite among my friends and colleagues, for their thick, creamy texture of the milkshake, but with a small serving size.
The first time I have tried Once Upon a Milkshake was at a school function, where most of us were treated to Once Upon a Milkshake after a long day of activities. It gave me a first impression, what's this small serving and huge hollow straw doing here. It took me quite sometime to adjust to the thick straw as it is quite a huge sip for me. I must say that this was one of the better milkshakes that you'll be able to find around Singapore. The one I had was chocolate milkshake. It was thick, and creamy; there's a tinge of milo powder in it too. I was really disappointed with the serving size, it was that little that I can finish within minutes.
The customer service was great but the pricing was on the higher end which I wouldn't want to afford for a milkshake. I guess this might be the reason that puts off many of their customers despite the range of flavours up for selection as well as the texture. This is definitely a no-no for me!
