I'm Indian, and I'm going to be completely honest, this is probably the best biryani I've ever eaten. Whilst most restaurants that sell biryani add gaudy coloured powders to make their food look appetising, Islamic Restaurant's biryani seemed to have a natural-looking colour. The rice also has a wonderful fragrance that is almost as delicious as the smell itself.
The chicken they used in their dishes is fresh, and they are generous with their portion sizes. My father, who dined with me, also had no complaints about the fish used in his meal. He commented that it tasted fresh and had been marinated very well. The ambience is decadent, and the restaurant was clean. The food is reasonably priced. The only complaint that I have is that the place is located in North Bridge Road, with seedy surroundings. If you're brave enough to weave through Geylang to find this place, I promise you will not be disappointed.
