A must go for korea fans!
It's rare for one to find a korean restaurant in singapore that actually accommodates to the ever demanding taste of local singaporeans while retaining the originality of the authentic taste of their menu! Honestly i was abit reluctant when i walked in along with my friends as it seems like a typical restaurant, but after trying out their signature dishes like Kimchi Jigae and Yuk Gae Jang, i was literally completely blown away! With just spending an average of $15, one could fill to their full with happy smiles on your face! Never judge a book by it's cover!
Great for gatherings!
Honestly, if it weren't for my friends bringing me there, I wouldn't have been able to find this cozy little shop snuggled amongst the many pubs in the vicinity.
When we stepped inside the brightly lit restaurant, we were met with inviting smiles from the shop owners.
Although they aren't well-versed in English, they provided excellent service which beckoned patrons to revisit.
The first time I went there it was one of my friends birthday and upon knowing that, the shop owner actually gave us a pancake on the house.
My favourite was the boo dae ji gae (kimchi hotpot) which goes well with the noodles in it or with rice.
There were various ingredients in it, making it a very nutritious and delicious dish.
One must-try is the pancake.
I'm not sure of the name but the one we got was plain, with onions and it was simply delish!
Especially with the sweet sauce to go along with the pancake, we had to fight to compete for the last few pieces.
Other than the main dishes, there were a couple of side dishes given as appetizers and a small serving of dessert at the end of the meal.
Rice can be ordered separately from the dishes so you should take note if the hotpot you're ordering comes with a serving of noodles/rice.
One downside is that the shop space is rather limited.
There are seats outside too but it can get quite hot and a bit dark if you're there for dinner.
So it'll be good to call in advance for a reservation.
SUPERB! Friendly owners, great service
Hidden along Circular road with many pubs around, this restaurant can be easily miss out if one does not look closely. Seats are available inside and outside of the restaurant. Owner of this restaurant is a korean couple that speaks little English but they are very friendly. With some simple pointing and english our order was made successfully. The luminous lightning in the restaurant gave a warming feeling although the place lacks of korean design.
Appetizers were served while we waited for our food. It is good that they provide something for us as a starter and it is nice too. We ordered this spicy steamboat that has plenty of ingredients inside like tofu, luncheon meat, sausages, mushrooms, cabbage and much more. Underneath the pile there is noodles and it is better to mix the pot and leave it for awhile before tucking in. If you like something piping hot this is something you can order.
Another dish we tried was the ginseng chicken soup. The taste of ginseng can be found in the pot and there was plenty of tender well-cooked chicken too. Last but not least we had this pancake thing and it was the best out of everything man. The combination with their special sweet syrup left us craving for more. At the end the owners served us desserts that had a mixture of sweet and sour tastes, very chilling to the throat.
Feel free to call for reservations if you are afraid of not getting enough seats!
