If you LOVE singing, this is the place to go! You can rent a room for a couple of hours and sing your hearts out. I recommend going in a big group because you pay less. The bad part is that you get a smaller chance to sing more songs. The microphones are dynamic microphones which means that it is stage quality and not the cheap kind of microphones you get for five dollars. There are also free drinks and food if you choose certain packages and the drinks are surprisingly good for the price. I am also very impressed by the clarity of the microphone and how it accurately projects your voice. As a voice actress, I work a lot with microphones and test their sound quality. I have to admit that the microphones provided there are amazing!
Yes, Kbox is indeed a place for leisure and spending time with your loved ones just by singing and having fun together. However, it could be pricey if you chose the wrong time to go. There are a lot of different Kbox packages available in different time of the day.
I always go for either K happy or K golden package. It's approximately $30> for at least 5 hours of nonstop singing. The titbits are also refillable and there are 2 free drinks per person.
K happy - 2p.m. to 7p.m.
K golden - 7p.m. to closing time(midnight/3a.m.)
Hope that my "tips" helps, because $30 for 5 hours+ of nonstop singing in Kbox with great service is hard to come by.
I do not really go to Kbox unless my friends ask me along, because I do not dare to sing in front of many people. However, I always enjoy myself a lot when I’m there with my friends because Kbox is a place where everyone can easily relax and let loose and go crazy!
Since I don’t sing, I go there mainly for the K lunch that comes together with the booking of the room. The cost is about $11 in total for 2 hours, I think, and the lunch includes a bento set that is quite delicious! I enjoy my lunch while watching my friends let everything go with their fast songs.
The variety of songs provided at Kbox is also good, as it is updated with all the latest songs. The quality of the videos are very old-school, and gives you the feeling like you are back in the 80s. The ambience of the room can be adjusted according to your liking as the lighting can be lightened and darkened as you wish. This is especially useful when creating the atmosphere for a sad song or brightening up the room for a fast and happy song.
Overall, it’s a great place for friends to hang out and have fun, make as much noise as you like without anyone complaining!
When I was in secondary school, I would join a group of friends sometimes for a round of karaoke at K BOX. There are plenty of outlets available, but we would tend to head to the one at Hougang Plaza (I studied in the North-East).
Now that I've grown a little older, I realised that the facilities are good, but not extraordinary. In my opinion, Teo Heng is more value-for-money. However, K BOX is good, no doubt, just a tad more expensive. Prices are still reasonable though, go in a group of four and I doubt you have to fork out more than $20, if your main focus is the singing and not drinking.
Go forth and sing.
Kbox has one of the best KTV facilities I've seen so far.
They have a great sound system, and the room is spacious. Seats are comfy too-- plush, cushioned sofas. I felt so much at ease when I was there with my friends, having loads of fun singing to my hearts content. Excellent service as well. They have this phone beside the door, which you could use to dial for service. The staff came almost immediately.
What makes it more convenient is that they have combo packages as well, whereby you get lunch or dinner included in the package. This way, you neednt worry about odd meal timings while having fun! They cater to large crowds as well. Once I had a class gathering at Kbox and I was initially worried if there was a room to accomodate a such a large number (20+). Turned out they do, and they threw a pool table in as well. Those not singing (I mean you cant have 20+ people singing at a time...right?) kept themselves entertained with pool. Great place for gatherings!
Not exactly affordable though, if you're the type to frequent KTVs. If that's the case I'd recommend KTV studios like teoheng instead, where the rates are much lower though facilities are compromised. Look out for the occasional promotions Kbox has though! Once they had a promotion-- $6 net for 3 hours. Thats what I call value for money.
Thinking of where to go for your outing with your family or friends? How about going for a singing session with them! Singing can be a interesting bonding session where everyone in the room can sing together!
I always love to go KBox with my friends for a few hours of singing session, I usually go for the KLunch which provides lunch while you sing! I find it very worthwhile because you need not spend another sum for your meal when it is included in your singing session!
And there is discounted price for students and members too! Get your voice ready and head down to KBox for rounds of singing!
The atmosphere is nice, quality of sound system is great, prices are acceptable but, the only bad thing is their customer service, which leads to my satisfaction rating went down.
I visited the outlet at Broadway Plaza for a few times and had a similar unpleasant encounter each time I went. The staffs will knock on the door and ask, “do you want any side dishes?” It’s alright if they come in just one or two times, but for every 30 to 45 minutes? It’s quite annoying. However, we didn’t tell them off; instead, we ordered two plates. Maybe that is their strategy of selling their side dish. Thankfully, those side dishes were not a disappointment. The same thing happened again when I went for the second and third time, but this time round I didn’t order any of it, because it is expensive and not willing to give it a second try.
Kbox is musical heaven on Singapore.
Right now there should be a 3 hours for $10 promotion (inclusive of a drink and snacks). When the promotion first started, I went every single day without fail. It must have cost me a good $100 down by the first 2 weeks. Best $100 I've ever spent.
If you're a regular, do go to their playlist function and save your songs in. It eradicates a lot of time wasting on looking for songs. I fully utilize this function by selecting my whole list and leaving my friends frustrated and desperately trying to slowly find their songs while I sing shamelessly.
Personally the only drinks I like is their milo dinosaur and house tequila (I swear that being tipsy gives your voice courage). You could try their shirley temple and honey lemon, that's what my friends usually live on so whatever floats your beverage boat!
All in all, a really nice place to chill at for 3 hours just singing or listening to songs or enjoying this tiny meal there.
I will weep when the promotion ends.
I love singing karaoke, and would always be up for it if my budget is not too tight. I'd usually go to K Box, especially if they have promotions or K Lunch or Dinner, because it is more worth the money.
The cost can be really painful, with K Dinner costing one person more than $25, although you get 4 hours of singing and dinner is provided. But my advice to you would be to just really enjoy yourself and care about the cost after the session is over. Note that not every outlet has K Lunch and K Dinner, though. The outlet I always go to is at Hougang Plaza, where they provide food from Nihon Mura, just next to K Box. Therefore if you look at the price as covering both the cost of your karaoke session and dinner, it could actually be pretty worth the money.
Service can be quite poor at times too. Once, I went for K Dinner with a large group of friends, and when we wanted to order, the server came with no pen and paper, and we had to ask if he needed the materials to take down our orders. At first, he said he was just gonna listen to our orders, but eventually he used some initiative and took one of the drink coasters on the table and wrote behind it... Would've applauded him if he could remember all our orders at the back of his hand though.
I would recommend K Box to people who want up-to-date music. In comparison to karaoke places in community clubs and Party World, K Box is the place that I've been to with the most updated list of songs so far.
Choose K Box every once in a while as a venue to meet up with old friends or have a birthday celebration. You definitely won't regret the time you spend here (unless of course, no one sings or the mood is just low)!
Firstly, I must emphasize that the price for Kbox is quite expensive compared to other karaoke places. They might give you a discount occasionally if you go with more people but there are definitely cheaper places you can go to.
The good thing about Kbox is that their rooms are nice and comfortable and they also have very good sound systems. Their food and drinks are also not bad (I love their sodas!). For service, I found it average as the staff might sometimes appear irritated if you call for service from inside the room and they don't really make you feel welcomed.
Overall, the quality is good but not really worth the money. I would rather go to cheaper karaoke places with lower quality sound systems.
